THE PROBLEM

What is the
problem? •Suicides
Who has this
problem? •Students
Why should this • To prevent the increase death
problem be solved? rate from suicides.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
• What is your research?
• How did you discover this problem?
• How did you get information to research this problem and attempt to solve it?
• Interviews?
• Personal experience?
• Internet/Books?
• Other ways?
• Education is indeed hard especially to those students who’s having
complex situation dealing with it. Most of them facing their
conflicts in most convenient and in positive way. But, some of
them is dealing it without knowing how can they fight back. For
them, the only way to deal with it is by continuing their sufferings
all day or one of the most not recommendable is to end their lives.
• Based on the latest data, Suicide rates are tremendously increasing
from past few years until today. Teenagers especially in the age
14-25 are found to be more at risks to kill themselves. Some of
them are abused from their family, academics, poverty and most
of it are students.
• In the modern world, Japan is the most prominent from their highly advance
technology and the most known for successful and respectable people.
However, it is also one of the most highest rates in suicide especially for
junior and/to college students.
• Philippines and Indonesia is also have a high ratings in terms from suicide.
Based on our research most of them suffer from hectic school requirements
and poverty.
• In the Philippines, suicide rates has steadily risen for almost two decades.
Most of them killing themselves by strangulation or hanging their neck,
by poisoning (ingestion of silver cleaners), and suffocating. “Experts said
young people today tend to be more disconnected despite the internet
supposedly opening up the world to everyone.”-rappler. Education also
impact teens/students in their mind, the higher the chance in competition
in class and being grade conscious the more chances the students taking
a risk in how they manage their time and how can they be successful in
their life without disappointing their parents. Bullying in school is also one
of the cause to take a students to end their lives. They suffer on both
physically and mentally pain that making them suffer and caused
depression to the point that they commit suicide to end their sufferings
and pain.
• Japan, is one of the most highest rates in suicide. Based on the statistics
(2016), japan is on top 15 from the highest rate in committing suicide.
Most of them are middle aged man who have a financial, economic, and
life problems. Ever since 1970’s Japan is known from their place called
suicide forest, a place where people end their lives. Aokigihara forest is
a popular site in Japan where in 2003, 105 bodies where found in the
forest placing the top from the 2002 which is 78. In 2010, the forest
exceed to 200 dead bodies recorded by the police, which is incredibly
high number of suicide in a one place. Nonetheless, some students in
Japan admit that they’re having an existential crisis where they think
what’s the main purpose of their life and out of curiosity and also
because of their depression in school they are killing themselves.
• Indonesia is an Islam country and most stick to belief in their
religion firmly. Because of it, terrorism is the biggest issue in the
country. Students who have been in a place where in a warzone, is
having a hard time how to deal with them while learning to school.
Because of trauma students is adapt PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder). They are becoming more violent and their best solution
to end their suffering is to kill themselves. Students who’s being
hopeless having a hard time to sleep and making them more lonely
and feel isolated and they’re becoming scared and there might
something happened to it.
• It is estimated that around 20% of global suicides are due to
pesticide self-poisoning, most of which occur in rural agricultural
areas in low- and middle-income countries. Other common methods
of suicide are hanging and firearms.
• Knowledge of the most commonly used suicide methods is
important to devise prevention strategies which have shown to be
effective, such as restriction of access to means of suicide.
