PROOFREADING TIPS
1. Double-check for errors typically made.
2. Double-check information.
3. If a number is stated in a story, make sure to count them. If
they mentioned provinces, count to make sure there are seven
provinces mentioned—no more, no less.
4. Check questionable information (numbers and spellings) with
original copy.
5. Do not just check the grammar. Sometimes, a sentence is
“pasted” more than once in the story; sometimes, an
information is placed on the wrong paragraph.
6. Never proofread your own copy.

Malacañng has assures that President Duterte is tip-top shape despite his absence in 2 events in

his hometown of Davao City on Friday.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo made statement after Duterte's former top aide

Bong Go said that the President was indisposed due to migraine, prompting the Executive Chief to skip

the scheduled events.

In his Monday press brieifing, Panelo assured tha t President Duterte is Healthy and that his

migraine is just something that the President normally experiences

“He had a migraine but after three hours of rest, he recovered and he went to work--reading so

many documents. He just stayed at the house" he said.

Duterte was supposed to lead the distribution of Certificates ofLand Ownership

Awards (CLOAs) to Davao Region farmers in Davao City at 5 p.m.

It was learned that DUTERTE skipped the firt event and was represented by his daughter, Davao

City Mayor sara Duterte-Carpio instead Friday evening.

Duterte also missed the PDP-Laban proclamation rally at the Crocodile Park Grounds in

Barangay Ma-a. The event scheduled at 6 p.m. was moved to 9 p.m. but the President still did not show

up.

Senator and re-electionist Koko Pimentel confirmed to those present in the event that Duterte will

not be attending the campaign rally.

You're writing for the East High Gazette. You're covering a soccer game between the East High Wildcats
and the West High Eagles. The game is for the regional collegiate conference title. It takes place at the
University of Makati on March 12, 2019.

The game is deadlocked until East High's Hector Samala, a freshman who played soccer at East High,
scores the first goal with 21:18 remaining. West High’s Emman Dela Cruz scores for the Eagles to tie
things up with 11:08 remaining but then with just 2:23 remaining Samala scores again. Final score: 2-1. It
is the only loss of the season for the Eagles.

East High finishes the regular season 14-2. It's the team's first regional soccer title in six years.

After the game you interview East High coach Batangueño George Banlao. He says the team was
confident leading up to the game, even though their two regular-season losses were to the Eagles.
“These guys just played with a lot of confidence and a lot of heart the entire season,” Banlao says.

He says that Samala, 19, a Manila boy and son of a known filmmaker, was the team's top scorer of the
season with 22 goals. But he adds that "this was a team effort. Everyone contributed this year."

During your interview with Samala, he says, “I’m so grateful for this victory."

“The whole team came together to win. This is a great day,” Samala says, adding that his background in
theater helped him here.
