BATANES
The Ivatans are the people living in the Batanes
group of islands. This is the reason why they learned
to adapt to the frequent weather disturbances as
manifested in their stone houses made of limestone.
Most of the Ivatans are farmers and fishermen.

The Ivatan women wear a head gear called


Vakul. It is a clothing to protect them from the heat of
the sun and during the rainy season. The special
clothing is woven from abaca fiber of vuyavuy palm –
a plant similar to coconut.
Nueva Viscaya

Gaddang
Gaddangs are natives
of Nueva Viscaya. These
people are known for their
crafts and textiles.
Isabela, Cagayan and Quirino
Ibanags
are an ethnolinguistic
minority numbering a little more
than half a million people, who
inhabit the provinces of Cagayan,
Isabela and Nueva Vizcaya. They are
one of the largest ethnolinguistic
minorities in the Philippines.
Ibanags speak the same language
under the same name.

Isabela is
known for its
furnitures. The
world’s largest
Butaka is found in
Ilagan, Isabela.

famous for its Barong
Tagalogs that are
carefully woven by
hands or embroidered
to perfection.
Angono, Rizal
Angono is known for its
Higantes Festival, a celebration
conceptualized in 1980s by
Perdigon Vocalan. In the colonial
times, the town folks make
Higantes, big papier mache to air
their sentiments about the
Spanish Hacienderos. The
traditional higantes are composed
of a father, mother and a child.
Cavite
Cavite is known for
its Tinis in Kawit
celebrated during
Christmas Season which
narrates the story of
how Joseph and Mary
found a place to give
birth to Jesus Christ.
Batangas
Batangas is known
for its Pinya Fabrics
made from the fibers of
pineapple. The silky but
delicate fibers of
pineapple are woven
into costly fabric for
pinya barongs, wedding
gowns and other formal
attires.
Balisong
A Balisong is a
type of knife that can
be folded like a fan
which comes in
different sizes.
Balisong is also known
as butterfly knife.
Quezon
The town of
Lucban Quezon is
famoust for its Pahiyas
Festival every May in
Honor to San Isidro
Labrador – The Patron
Saint of the Farmers.
