79th ARAW NG DABAW
Introduction
Davao City — Weeklong celebrations for the 79th Araw ng Davao start today
with this major Mindanao metropolis expecting thousands of tourists and
visitors, and the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) going on high alert status.

exit points to ensure security of both residents and revelers.

Duhwow, or Davau, and the Tagabawa Bagobos,
Dabu. To the Obos, the word davoh also means a
place "beyond the high grounds", alluding to the
settlements located at the mouth of Davao River
which were surrounded by high rolling hills. When
asked where they were going, the usual reply is
davoh, while pointing towards the direction of the
town.
