Stair climbing wheel chair utilizes mainly to help for the physically handicapped persons and the person who are unable to climb stairs. Practical implementation of planetary gears.
Helping of disabled person.
Understanding with each other as team.
A normal chair mounted on mobile system.
Our design is based on planetary gears controlled by
electric motor. This wheelchair is motor operated on the rear wheels which applies a pushing force to move wheelchair in forward direction. This contains a simple chair which is mounted on the entire system which is responsible for all its working and its mobility . Rear wheel mechanism is based on the planetary gear system which is powered by an electric motor and chain system which makes the wheel as shown in figure to move on flat surface also on stairs. As some obstacles come and the front wheel gets obstruct planetary gear system makes it to revolve and it climbs up and down with its help and the front small wheels are provided in order to pay support to the entire system. Again keeping in mind the condition of slip we have designed it in such a way that a person whoever controlling it can lock this system at the time of danger of slipping and due to other reasons. Gear motor Wheels (rear and front) Gears Chain Chair (seat) Switch(motor controller) Locking device A motor is used as a locomotion unit and this motion is transmitted to the clustered wheels . This motor is mounted on frame. Here a clustered wheel concept is being developed in order to accommodate stair climbing features. Three wheels are arranged in a triangular array, such that centers of each of the wheels coincide with vertices of an equilateral triangle. Planetary gears Transmission of motion from motor to the wheels is through planetary gear train. The seat is a tubular structure carrying a chair and a pivoting wheel. The seat essentially consists of two tubular structures, connected by means of cross bar, a chair support and a pipe that ends with a pivoting wheel. Whenever there is a danger of falling down during climbing the stairs through wheel chair , we will use a locking device which stops the movement of the chair and saves the person from falling. Design is to be prepared in Catia or pro-e Following analysis were done in ansys Stress Slipping Maximum payload Comfort ability Economically Our estimated cost is around 18,000 This is our practical implementation of subject theory of machines which we have studied in our degree. After the completion of this project we might be very happy as we will be able to help someone who will not be in position to enjoy his/her life as normal people.
