An Enhanced Public Key

Infrastructure to
Secure Smart Grid Wireless
Communication Networks
DOMAIN

• A network is a group of two or more computer systems

linked together.

• Network address is the network portion of an IP address

that uniquely identifies a computer on a network.

• Examples include local-area networks (LANs) and wide-

area networks (WANs), metropolitan area
network(MANs).
ABSTRACT

• Grid computing is the collection of computer

resources from multiple locations to reach a common
goal.
• Public Key Infrastructure, additional security
mechanisms supporting distributed TAs and privacy
preservation are required to efficiently secure
wireless communication networks for the smart grid.
OBJECTIVE

• Several security mechanisms have been proposed to

complement the PKI security services for availability,
privacy preservation and scalability.

• Proposed a mechanism to efficiently resist DoS

attacks against adversaries and legitimate insiders.

SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE
REQIREMENT
Hardware Requirements:
• Processor : Any Processor above 500 MHz
• RAM : 128MB.
• Hard Disk : 10 GB.
• Compact Disk : 650 MB.
• Input device : Standard Keyboard, Mouse.
• Output device : VGA Monitor
Software Requirements:
• Front End - NS2
• Back End - NS2
PROPOSED SYSTEM

• Propose a mechanism to efficiently resist DoS attacks

against adversaries and legitimate insiders.
• A typical public key infrastructure (PKI) scheme
which achieves secure routing.
• PKI is a potential mechanism for securing smart grid
communication as it can meet most security
requirements of smart grid communication networks.
Cntd….,
• A PKI binds the public keys and the entities identities
through the use of digital certificates.
ADVANTAGES

• Availability

• High efficiency and scalability

• Entity authentication and data integrity protection

• Privacy preservation
FUTURE SCOPE
• To simplify the PKI environment so that less staff are
required to manage it.
• On the other hand, with the development of the smart
grid, more third-party service providers will be involved,
which will introduce some new security and privacy risks
into the system.
• To complement the enhanced PKI system to prevent these
risks.
