MAILCHIMP: WHY?
• Being a mother myself I find it extremely important to stay in
contact with my son’s teacher about his academic learning.
• I want to be able to set meetings with parents about students
performance in school and if there’s anything else we could do to
help them
• Send out newsletters about what we have been working on and
what’s to come
• Overall, keep good communication between the parent
MAILCHIMP: WHAT I LEARNED
• It was established in 2001 by Ben Chestnut
• It employees 800 people
• It’s free, however, it’s limited features. If you want all the features it
starts at $10 a month
• It was made for business use
• Getting new updates when needed
• If you are coming from a different program, getting use to
Mailchimp can be confusing and challenging
MAILCHIMP: PROBLEMS?
• When signing up with Mailchimp it will ask to leave a message for
your contacts to remind them why they signed up to view your list
or newsletters, and emails
• It will NOT allow you to continue with your sign-up if you don’t
put a message in, it is a requirement otherwise you can’t use the
site
• It can cost up $200 a month depending on how many features you
would like to use
• They change the design of the site frequently so if you don’t like
that kind of change this site is not for you
MAILCHIMP: WHAT IT DOES
• You are able to create newsletters
• Email parents or other teachers to stay in communication
• You are also able to make your own newsletters and then
sell them (you can make extra money)
• It can translate into different languages for those you are
not able to speak or read in the English language
• You can choose the newsletter you want to use and it will
save it for you to use in the future and move things around
on it (ex: headings, pictures, etc.,)
MAILCHIMP: HOW WILL I USE IT
• I will be able to stay in contact with parents concerning
their child and making sure they understand where I stand
when it comes to their child’s education, and why it might
be benificial if they can come and volunteer if necessary.
• Making newsletters for parents so that they are informed
about what we are doing and working on, also what’s to
come the following days, weeks, and months
• I can use to email over 30 parents, and teachers at the
same time and send out an important message.
