The Heart Healthy Game

Hope Alexander, Tajah Alkhalifa, and

Beth Littman
Our Goal
To create a game that helps
children to identify heart healthy
products and demonstrate
understanding in an interactive
manner
What the game is about
⊷ Demonstrating how to eat and shop
healthier
⊷ A fun way to educate people
⊶ possibly without them even knowing
that they are being educated
Target Audience
⊷ Young children of elementary age
(grades K-5)
⊷ Kids that can read and understand
directions
Why Target a Younger
Audience?
⊷ Specific type of nerve cell activity helps
with memory and is found in younger
brains, and gets used up when younger,
having to be reused as an adult, making
memorizing more difficult
⊷ Habits are more easy to form when
people are younger, and harder to break
the younger they start.
⊷ Research shows that prefered tastes are
decided as an infant, and young ages
are the best time to get a child
interested in fruits/veggie
Some Healthy Foods
⊷ Fruits
⊷ Veggies
⊷ Almonds
⊷ Avocado
⊷ Salmon
⊷ Skinless Poultry
Some Unhealthy
Purchases
⊷ Cigarettes
⊷ Non- whole grain
bread
⊷ Fried Chicken
⊷ Soft Drinks
⊷ Pasta
⊷ Red Meats
⊷ French Fries
⊷ Chips
⊷ Pizza
⊷ Ice Cream
End Result
Teaching heart healthy eating habits through
a multilevel game. Foods move across the
screen, with the objective of clicking the
unhealthy foods before they reach the end of
the screen. Audible and visual keys provide
feedback
For The Future
⊷ Add a screen showing all foods
healthy and unhealthy.
⊷ More levels
⊷ On the app store
⊷ Add a corresponding game
curriculum
