Use Conditional Math (1 of 3)
• Excel Math and Statistical functions:
– SUMIF—calculates the total of a range of values when a
specified condition is met
=SUMIFS(sum_range,criteria_range1,criteria1,criteria_ran
ge2,criteria2…)
– AVERAGEIF—calculates the average of a range when a
specified condition is met
=AVERAGEIFS(average_range,criteria_range1,criteria1,cri
teria_range2,criteria2…)
– COUNTIF—counts the number of cells in a range when a
specified condition is met
=COUNTIFS(criteria_range1,criteria1,criteria_range2,criter

– CONCATENATE—individual text strings into one text string
 =CONCATENATE(text1,text2)
– PROPER—capitalizes the first letter of each word in a text
string
 =PROPER(text)
– UPPER—converts text strings to uppercase letters
 =UPPER(text)
– LOWER—converts text strings to lowercase
 =LOWER(text)

– SUBSTITUTE—replaces new text for old text in a text
string
=SUBSTITUTE(text,old_text,new_text,instance_num)
– LEFT—returns the specified number of characters from
the start of a text string
LEFT(Text, Num_chars)
– RIGHT—returns the specified number of characters
from the end of a text string
RIGHT(Text, Num_chars)
