What is an EV
• An Electric Vehicle is an automobile that uses an electric motor as it’s
primary source of propulsion.
• Electrical energy can also be generated by using Fuel cells and Solar
cells.

Types of Electric Vehicles
3
• Plug-in Hybrid-Electric Vehicle (pHEV)
Plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles (pHEV) are similar to HEVs except that the
proportion energy used to propel the vehicle is electricity, not fuel. The vehicle is
designed to engage the fuel engine when battery power is running low.
FCEV is a type of electric vehicle which uses a fuel cell, instead of a battery,
or in combination with a battery and fuel tanks, to power its on-board electric
motor. Fuel cells in vehicles generate electricity to power the motor, generally
using oxygen from the air and compressed hydrogen.
