Co-Relation with Master Case Study

We have installed SAP ECC 6.0 system for GIT Corporation. By

default after installation 3 standard client such as 000, 001 and 066
are created.
But we cannot give these 3 clients to the user for normal
production activities so we need to do a client copy and create and
new client for them

4
Learning Objectives

As a part of the first post installation step you need to create a new client and do client
copy from reference client. So today we will try to explore more on client administration
i.e.
What is client?
Why do we need client copy?
Different types of Client copy

5
Session Agenda

• What is client?
• Why do we need client copy?
• Different types of client copy
Local Client Copy
Remote Client Copy
Client Export/Import
• View client copy logs
• Delete a client
• Client Administration and maintenance

6
What is a client ?

Technical and organizational independent entity or unit

Client within SAP systems

Application contains the user login information, including

the username, the password

User data
Data

Is of two types master data and

transactional data

Client dependent
Customizing contains the configuration settings
and is client dependent

SAP Standard Clients

administrative start the • Used by SAP for
tasks customizing preventive
• Used as a work maintenance
reference client • Default users • Default Users
• Default Users DDIC ,SAP* SAP* and
DDIC ,SAP* Earlywatch

8
Business Justification

 After an SAP installation , we get only 3 standard clients which are not
recommended to be used for productive purposes .Hence the first post
installation step is to create a new client and do client copy from reference
client.

 To create multiple environments in a single SID (single SAP system ) , we

need to do client copy for creating new clients which can be used for
training , testing , sandbox , demo etc.

9
What is Client Copy?

• We replace the data of one client by another using client copy tools.
• Data can only be replaced and not be merged.
• There are 3 client copy tools:
1.Local Client Copy
2.Remote Client Copy
3.Export Import

client adjustment.

Protection Level 2: Client is protected against read access by other
clients during client copy or client comparison. This is used if we have
sensitive data
