Carver was renowned food
George scientist that created many food
innovations from soybeans, peanuts,
Washington Carver and sweet potatoes but is most
popularly known as “The Peanut Man”.
He was a master of the farming
technique crop rotation and influenced
curriculum and the president of the
United States alike. After he passed,
Franklin D. Roosevelt built a memorial
in honor of his extensive work.
★ He was born into slavery and once
was kidnapped by a raider.
Early Life
★ He was raised by his slave owners
and taught to read and write by
the wife.
★ Carver was known as the plant
doctor because of his natural
green thumb
★ Carver began schooling 10 miles aways
from home but was kicked out because
of his race.
★ He finally received his diploma from the
high school of Minneapolis.
★ He moved on to study art and music in
Iowa. This is where he delved into
botanical sketches.

Education ★ Carver then became the head of an


Agricultural Department and influenced
a lot of their curriculum
★ Caver’s interest in plants began to blossom
when he was young and local farmers
would call him the plant doctor
★ Later in his life he came up with the idea of

★ His later studies on peanuts were due to
the surplus of them because of his crop
rotation innovation.
★ Carver created 300 products from peanuts
and also dabbled in their medical uses like
laxatives.
★ He also consulted with the president on the
agricultural system of America.
Death ★ Carver died in 1943 at his
home in Tuskegee, Alabama
when he was 78 years old.
★ He tragically fell down his
stairs therefore ending his life.
★ His grave sits next to Booker T.
