 SUSE Linux Enterprise Server from SUSE website or appliance vendor

 If built from scratch (bare metal) use SAP Customer note 1310037 to ensure the
OS is ready
 Latest SUSE for Business One available from http://www.suse.com/slesb1hana

This is the path to the local SAP system instance

directories.

It is possible to join this location with the Linux installation.
Subdirectories:
/usr/sap/hostctrl - The SAP host agent directory.
/usr/sap/<SID> - Contains symbolic links to system
executables (SYS) and the home directory (home) of the
<sid>adm user.

Partition Considerations
You will need at least 4 partitions:
 Linux root (p1) should be >= 72GB
 Installation of SAP HANA and SAP Business One products (p2) >=80 GB
 SAP HANA data management (p3) 3 x system memory
 SAP HANA log management (p4) 1 x system memory

Partition Considerations – mount points
Assign mounting points, as below:
 p1 = /
 p2 = /hana/shared
 p3 = /hana/data
 p4 = /hana/log
 All partitions must be formatted as ext3

Important location for SAP Files
/hana/shared: Installtion directory of SAP HANA components
/hana/data: SAP HANA DB data files
/hana/log: SAP HANA DB log files
/usr/sap/<sid>: location of SAP HANA DB executable where <sid> represent the system ID selected
/usr/sap/SAPBusinessOne: location of SAP Business One server components
/etc: Linux server configuration files
/proc: virtual file system

 SUSE Installation Preparation
 Download the image
 Burn to CD

SUSE Installation Steps
 Boot from CD-ROM
 Choose „Install SLES11 SP3 B1“ with

help of cursor keys
 Press ENTER key

 If the machine has multiple disks

please choose the smaller drive
(72GB) for the OS
 Normally this is /dev/sda

 Confirm that it is the right disk
 Up to this point you can still abort the

installation
 With confirming this step, the disk will

be formatted

 Now the operating system is copied

onto the disk

 Verifying the drive

 After some messages which show the

start of some services you will see the
EULA for the SUSE Linux Enterprise
Server
 Scroll down <Pg-down> Or

press „q“ (quit) to go to the end.
 Accept it with „y“ and ENTER

 Now be back in the graphical setup of

the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server
 Choose your Keyboard type

 Enter you Hostname and domain name

here
 Uncheck “Change hostname via DHCP”

 Setup the network
 Click on the green „Network Interfaces“

or
 Or use the pull-down box at the bottom

 Select the Network-Card
 and choose „Edit“ on eth0 device

 Select the „Statically assigned IP

address
 And enter you IP-Address and subnet

mask

 Select „Hostname/DNS“ tab
 And enter your Name Server and/or

Domain Search

 Select „Routing“ Tab
 And enter your default gateway
 Now your Network configuration is

ready

 Next step is to set the password for the

system administrator „root“
 Your SUSE Linux installation is ready

now and we now move on to the SAP
setup

 Enter registration information for

maintenance and support from SUSE

 Select the appropriate installation

option.

 Now we start the Wizard part for the

SAP HANA and SAP BusinessOne
installation
 First provide the path to the unpacked

 This could be provided through NFS,

DVD, USB etc

 We have now copied all

media for SAP HANA

another SAP product
 Choose „Yes“ to add the SAP

You can use the same from a windows machine with an x-windows client installed
clients include:
 Remote Desktop
 preinstalled in the SUSE for B1 HANA image
 VNC
 Must start VNC on the server (vncserver :1)

 The appropriate SAP HANA platform software can be downloaded from the SAP Business One Software
Download Center under the path : Updates  SAP B1 VERSION FOR SAP HANA  SAP B1 9.1 FOR SAP
HANA  SAP HANA PLATFORM EDITION.
NOTE: Check the appropriate B1 patch level overview note for the supported SAP HANA revision information.
 Check the SAP Business One Administrator's Guide, version for SAP HANA for more information
 SAPCAR is required to extract the archives for the SAP HANA Platform components. Information on
extracting .SAR archives can be found in SAP Note:1732990.
 As of SAP HANA revision 85, the SAP HANA SERVER is downloaded as a multi-spanning TAR archive.
Please look at SAP Note:2023163:
NOTE: The SAP_HANA_CLIENT archives that extract as a default via the SAPCAR utility, will ALL extract to
SAP_HANA_CLIENT folder.

 Ensure hdb* files and ./instruntime/sdbrun have execute permission set

 chmod 754 hdb*

Navigate to directory where you decompressed the files
 hdblcmgui: New graphical installer of SAP HANA components via lifecycle management. RECOMMENDED
 hdblcm: New console installer of SAP HANA components via lifecycle management.
 hdbinst: Console installation of the SAP HANA component
 hdbsetup: Graphical installation of the SAP HANA component
 hdbuninst: SAP HANA unified component uninstaller
 hdbupd: SAP HANA Server upgrade (only applies to SAP HANA SERVER)

SAP HANA Graphical Installation
Start the installation process via the GNOME or equivalent console/terminal
 ./hdblcmgui

 Select upgrade or ‘Install

new System’

Choose what to install or upgrade
 Select all appropriate SAP

 Select “Single-host System

Define System Properties – New installation only
 Enter the appropriate

 Define and confirm the

password for the <sid>adm
user that will be created.

 Leave the other defaults as is
bearing in mind that the
correct Timezone is selected.
