PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
• Blended MOOC
• R Programming by Johns Hopkins University on
Coursera
• Course starts Oct 5th, 2015 (registration can be done
earlier)
• 4-week online course
• 2 learning hub sessions in UTAR
TARGETED AUDIENCE
• MDeC is allocating 36
seats UTAR final year
students
• Majoring in any non-
ICT degree such as
Actuarial Science,
Financial/Applied
Mathematics and
Economics
LEARNING HUB
• 4 half a day session
• Instructors will be Dr Lee Min Cherng
• Venue will be in UTAR (tba-kindly refer to Dr
Goh for further details)
Programme Registration
1. Email to nazir@mdec.com.my &
farhanim.lazis@mdec.com.my the following
documents:
a. IC copy
b. Completed application form
c. CV/Resume
d. Latest academic transcript
Payment & Claim Process
1. Join the 5th October 2015 session by clicking on the following link:
https://www.coursera.org/course/rprog.
2. Register and pay USD49.00 to Coursera.
3. For payments, Coursera accepts most major credit cards and
PayPal.
4. Email nazir@mdec.com.my & farhanim.lazis@mdec.com.my the following
documents:
1. Coursera Payment Receipt (received via email from Coursera)
2. Credit Card/Paypal/Bank statement that specify the amount in
Ringgit Malaysia (RM)
5. Money will be credited to your bank account within 3-4 weeks
from the date we received all completed documents.

• Week 1: Overview of R, R data types and
objects, reading and writing data
• Week 2: Control structures, functions, scoping
rules, dates and times
• Week 3: Loop functions, debugging tools
• Week 4: Simulation, code profiling
