INDIGENISATION
HQ maintenance command, IAF is the nodal
agency for formulation and implementation
of the indigenisation plan of the Air Force as
advised by Air HO.

JD Indigenisation at Air HQ (RKP) is the


nodal agency at Air HQ for policy planning,
financial sanction and co-ordination with
outside agencies.
INDIGENISATION
Indigenisation of Airborne Items is not
to be attempted by the operating
unit/BRDs (and EDs where BRDs are
located far away) may be approached
for undertaking indigenisation through
respective command HQ and weapon
cell at Air HQ.
INDIGENISATION
Manual of Indigenisation issued by HQ
maintenance command, IAF. Is the
reference document for all
indigenisation procedures along with
DDPMAS 2002 (Design Development
Production of Military Aircraft and
airborne System -2002) issued by
Ministry of Defence.

Critical parts, the approval is by ISC & QAS
while for critical parts , approval is by RCMA

1. Approved Design House / Design
Approved Agency: Design Approved Agency is
an agency whose design / development
department has been approved by Chief
Executive, CEMILAC as competent to carry out
Design, Development, Modification, and
Indigenous Substitution of a particular class of
stores/ Material/ equipment, and/ or formulate
Statement of Work (SOW), Prime Item
Development Specification (PIDS), Critical Item
Development Specification (CIDS), software
related documents, Test phase related doc etc.

2. Approved Designer: Authorized Designer


in the Design Department (Govt. R&D
Organizations or Laboratories) undertaking
design and development of an aircraft, aero
engines, systems, software, equipment,
materials etc., is responsible for the detailed
design and development of the Aircraft!
Engine/ Systems/ Software/ Components/
Material.

CEMILAC authorizes signatories for
various processes as part of
Certification needs made by the Main
Contractor engaged in the design,
development and manufacture of
Airborne Stores.

Airworthiness: Airworthiness is the
continued capability of the aircraft/ equipment
to perform satisfactorily and fulfill mission
requirements, throughout the specified life in
the prevailing environments with acceptable
levels of safety and reliability. However, the
acceptable levels to be mutually agreed
between users, designers and the certification
authority.
