Fuel Industry

What is fuel industry…??

• Fuel Industry. a combination of branches of industry concerned with the

extraction and processing of various fuels, including the petroleum
production, petroleum refining, natural gas, coal, peat, and oil shale
industries. The fuel industry is one of the most important branches of heavy
industry.

What is crude oil?

• crude oil is a naturally occurring, flammable liquid consisting of a complex mixture

of hydrocarbons of various molecular weights, and other organic compounds, that
are found in geologic formations beneath the earth's surface. Oil and gas are
chemicals made from molecules containing just carbon and hydrogen. All living
things are made of complex molecules of long strings of carbon atoms. Connected
to these carbon atoms are others such as hydrogen and oxygen. A simple molecule,
called methane (CH 4 ), is the main component of natural gas. Crude oil (oil
obtained from the ground) is a sticky, gooey black stuff. It contains many different
molecules, but all are made of carbon and hydrogen atoms.
How crude oil formed?

• Crude oil is not largely made up of Dinosaurs as many people believe.

Instead they are made up of infinite trillions of ancient algae that died and
sunk to the bottom of the ocean and seas millions of years ago.
• Crude oil is one form of fossil fuel that was formed from biomass, which is
decaying plants and animals, over millions of years. Much of the biomass
came from water organisms that, when they died, were covered with layers
of sediment. Years of pressure and heat transformed the biomass into crude
oil and other forms of fuel.
There are 2 types of Extracting of Crude Oil
from Earth.

When will crude oil runout?

• We don't know for sure. While it will never run all the way out, we will reach
a point when we don't have enough to use like we do now.

completely dry out?
