Four months after fundraiser, Trump says he
gave $1 million to veterans group

Almost four months after promising $1 million of his own money to veterans’
causes, Donald Tramp moved to fulfill that pledge Monday evening —
promising the entire sum to a single charity as he came under intense media
scrutiny.
‘Trump, now the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, organized a
nationally televised fundraiser for veterans’ causes in Des Moines on Jan. 28.
‘That night, Trump said he had raised $6 million, including the gift from his,
own pocket.
“Donald Trump gave $1 million,” he said then.
As recently as last week, Trump's campaign manager had insisted that the
mogul had already given that money away. But that was false: Trump had not.
In recent days, The Washington Post and other media outlets had pressed
‘Trump and his campaign for details about how much the fundraiser had
actually raised and whether Trump had given his portion. At President Trump’s hotel in New York,

‘The general manager of the Trump International Hotel in Manhattan had a
rare bit of good news to report to investors this spring: After two years of
decline, revenue from room rentals went up 13 percent in the first three
months of 2018,
What caused the uptick at President Trump's flagship hotel in New York? One
major factor: “a last-minute visit to New York by the Crown Prince of Saudi
Arabia,” wrote general manager Prince A. Sanders in a May 15 letter, which
‘was obtained by The Washington Post.
Neither Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman nor members of the royal family
stayed at Trump's hotel, Sanders said: He said the Trump hotel didn’t have
suites big enough to accommodate them. But “due to our close industry
relationships,” he wrote, “we were able to accommodate many of the
accompanying travelers.”How a Univision anchor found the missing

Enrique Acevedo anchors the late-night national newscast for Univision, the
Spanish-language TV network. On Tuesday night, Acevedo finished the
broadcast at midnight at the network's studios in Doral, Fla., near the Miami
airport.
But he didn't go home.
He had a reservation,
"Tused points," Acevedo said in a telephone interview, meaning American
Express reward points. “I didn't want to... spend any money on Trump's
property, 50 T used points.”
Acovedo was headed to Tramp National Doral Miami, a large golf resort owned
by the GOP nominee, which was just a few blocks from the Univision studios.
Earlier that night, Acevedo had seen a report — circulated on Twitter and
reported by The Washington Post — that the Doral resort was home to a semi-
famous work of art.
