Keep a contact list of emergency phone numbers handy. Stock up on

batteries, bottled water, non-perishable foods, and first-aid and safety gear,
as well as materials to reinforce windows and other vulnerable areas. Know
where local shelters are, and keep informed of warnings and evacuation
orders.
