• Boundary Conditions:-
The boundary conditions for various edge conditions are given by,
Simply-supported:
At x = 0 and x = a : w0 = 0 and 0y = 0
Clamped:
At x = 0 and x = a : w0=0 and 0x = 0 and 0y = 0
• The in plane displacement u0x, u0y and the shear strains ψ0x, ψ0y, are interpolated using
bilinear Lagrange interpolation functions.
• For θx and θy, interpolation functions as proposed by Batoz and Tahar.

Sixteen nodal rotation variables θi0x, θi0y for the eight nodes (i = 1…… 8) are related to
the twelve degrees of freedom deflection vector we0 of the four corner nodes .
Batoz and Tahar Conditions:
1) Impose at mid side nodes i of side jl joining corner nodes j and l (i = 5 to 8) the
constraints θis = wi0,s where wi0,s is obtained by considering cubic variation of w along
the side of length ajl as i 3 1 j

By the above procedure θ0x and θ0y can be finally expressed in terms of we0.
