for almost 48 years. It's

because of this, many

influences of Americans
were absolutely Adopted by

EDUCATION
( 1898 - 1943 ), the American
government gave priority to
education in the Philippines .
Education became very
important for the Filipinos .
The spread of democracy and
formation of good citizens ,
including the rights and
responsibilities of the people ,
were the focus of American
education in the country .
Education allowed the
americans to spread or share
their culture ,
Particularly the English
language , to the Filipinos .
Every child from age 7 was
required to register in schools
located in their own town or
province . The students were
given free school materials .
There were three levels of
education during the American
period . The " elementary " level
consisted of four primary years
and 3 intermediate years . The
" secondary " or high school level
consisted of four years ; and the
third was the " college " or
tertiary level . Many elementary
and secondary schools were
Normal , vocational , agricultural ,
and business schools were also
opened . There were also colleges
during the American period . Some
of these colleges are : Philippine
normal school in 1901 ( now A
university ) and
other normal schools throughout
the country such as Silliman
university ( 1901 ), Negros oriental
high school ( 1902 ), sty . Paul
university dumaguete ( 1904 ), Cebu

National University ( 1901 );
University Of Manila ( 1914 );

( 1919 ); And Far Eastern
University ( 1933 ). Examples
Of Vocational Schools Are :

School , Philippine School Of
Arts And Trades And The
Central Luzon Agriculture
School . The University Of The
Philippines Was Also Founded
In 1908
Entertainment
In terms of entertainment , they
had also influenced us. For US
were only here for a long time
and for a lot of historians ,
their conquest of the Philippines
was a fluke . History shows that
the Philippines was ready to take
over intramuros , the seat of
power at that time when Spain
sold the Philippines to the US
via the treaty of Paris .
Nevertheless , the influence is
much greater after world war II
when the americans basically made
For the longest time , products would
sell better if it were
called “ stateside ” and “ imported ”.
Filipinos love a lot of things about
American culture such as fast food ,
sitcoms and music . Furthermore , most
Filipinos can speak a little bit of
English making it very easy to
communicate even for foreigners .
Almost anything American can be a hit
in the country . Hollywood movies are
flocked , star bucks is always filled
to the brim and the latest fashion is
followed or replicated.
Americans also influenced us .
Just like in sports , such as baseball ,
golf and football .
