• DPCH_Ec = Pilot_Ec + TPC_Ec + TFCI_Ec +DATA_Ec

Ior Ior Ior Ior Ior

Hence, Transmit power of BS can be presented as:

PCCPCH_Ec + DPCH_Ec + SCCPCH_Ec + OCNS_Ec = 1

Macro Cell Propagation Model (TS25.942)

• L= 40*(1-4*10-3*Hbs)*log(R)-18*log(Hbs)+21*log(f)+80 (dB)
= 128.1 + 37.6 * log(R)
where:
R: Distance between BS and UE (km)
f : Carrier frequency (2000MHz)
Hbs: Base station antenna height (15m), measured from average rooftop level

Log-normal distributed shadowing (LogF) with standard deviation of 10 dB should be adde

d, so that the resulting pathloss is as following:

Pathloss_macro = L + LogF = 128.1 + 37.6*log(R) +LogF

Note:
(1) L shall not be less than free space loss
(2) This model is valid for None Line-Of-Sight (NLOS) only
(3) Pathloss model is valid for a range of Hbs from 0 to 50m
(4) This model is designed for distance from few hundred meters to kilometers and there are
not very accurate for short distance
Transport Channel (TS25.211)

Transport Channel Dedicated Transport CH (DCH) Down link or uplink transport CH

Common Transport CH

Broadcast CH (BCH) Used to broadcast system and cell specific information.

BCH is always transmitted over the entire cell.

Forward Access CH (FACH) Transmitted over the entire cell or over only a part of
the cell using e.g. beam homing antennas. FACH can
Down link CH
be transmitted using slow power control.
Paging CH (PCH) PCH is always transmitted over the entire cell.

Downlink Shared CH (DSCH) DSCH is a downlink transport CH shared by sever

al UEs. DSCH is associated with one or several do
wnlink DCH. DSCH is transmitted over the entire
Random Access CH (RACH) cell or over only a part of the cell using e.g. beam-
Up link CH foming antennas.

Common Packet CH (CPCH) RACH is always received from the entire cell.
RACH is characterized by a collision risk and by
being transmitted using open loop power control.
CPCH is associated with a dedicated channel on the downlink which provides
power control and CPCH Control Commands for the uplink CPCH. CPCH is
characterized by initial collision risk and by being transmitted using inner loop
power control.
Up link Physical Channel (TS25.211)

Physical Channel Dedicated Physical Data CH (DPDCH) DPDCH is used to carry DCH.
(Uplink)
Dedicated Physical Control CH (DPCCH) DPCCH is used to carry control
information generated at Layer 1.
Layer 1 control information consist of; One uplink DPCCH on each radio link.
- pilot bits to support channel estimation for coherent detection,
- transmit power control (TPC) commands,
- feedback information (FBI),
- transport-format combination indicator (TFCI)--- optional
TFCI informs the receiver about the instantaneous transport format combination of the
transport channels mapped to the simultaneously transmitted uplink DPDCH radio frame.
