The Teacher as a Person
 Give attention to what students are saying. Effective teachers practice focused and
sympathetic listening to show students they care not only about what happens in the
classroom, but about students' lives in general.
 Provide each student with a sense of personal worth and develop each student’s
self-confidence and respect his ability to learn. Caring teachers regard the ethic of
care and learning as important in educating students to their full potential.
 Assume a posture of moral or intellectual superiority.
 Minimize conflict with students and minimize lecturing.
 Provide an open and relaxed atmosphere.
 Generate activity among students. Students should be engaged in interactive
activities. Also diversify teaching styles to prevent apathy and boredom
 Show concern for the well-being of each student in the class and try not to let
students fall behind.
 Ask for feedbacks from your students about your teaching to help you improve on it.
 Interact with colleagues. Share with your co-teachers your experiences and
strategies in teaching. They might be able to help you improve on your teaching
skills
 Tone down grading system. You don’t own the grade, be fair.
 Be a model.
