Definition
• When people interact in assertive or nonassertive
ways, there is a social transaction in which one
person responds to another. The study of these
social transactions between people is called
transactional analysis (T.A.)

• Two people interact each other from one of three
psychological positions, known as ego states.
The Parent Ego State:
• People act like domineering parents.
i. Complementary transactions
ii.Crossed Transactions
iii.Ulterior transactions
Complementary Transactions
• The ego states of the sender and receiver in the opening
transaction are simply reversed in the response.
