IMPACT OF MNP ON VODAFONE

MNP gives subscribers the freedom to choose operators based on criteria like services, price, and customer service. Their freedom of movement is not influenced by the inconveniences and costs that come with changing numbers. MNP churn is a concern among some operators, number portability has been a huge success around the world, because it helps to level the playing field, giving all operators more opportunities to grow their subscriber bases and revenues. The first phase of MNP in India is rolling out on 25th November from the Haryana Circle Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), has issued an official notification for the implementation of the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) across India from January 20, 2011.

MNP ON VODAFONE.

The third largest mobile operator company in India, Vodafone-Essar, is currently leading the tally of MNP gainers. As per the report, published by leading daily Indian Express, Vodafone has gained as many as 61789 subscribers via MNP route, followed by Aircel (28,088) and Idea Cellular (15220). Vodafone & Idea Cellular are leading MNP advertisers

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM


The research is conducted among customers in Alappuzha in order to analyze the impact of MNP in Vodafone on customer basis. Vodafone has gained 1.9 lakh customers due to the introduction of MNP

To study the reasons for customer preference on Vodafone due to mobile number portability. To check whether customers are fully aware about MNP. To estimate the level of satisfaction of the customers regarding the monitory benefits provided by the organization.

SIGNIFICANCE
Study is conducting to find out the impact of MNP on Vodafone, and the researcher can get an experience in analysing various aspects. It also covers the theoretical background of the study. This study helps Vodafone to know their position in Alappuzha.

SCOPE.

The research covers various aspects of MNP. This research includes the impact of MNP on Vodafone in customer base. The research is specifically limited to Alappuzha district only. Theoretical aspects are also covered in this research. Impact of revenue generation & other services provided by Vodafone are not covered in the research.

METHODOLOGY. Research design. Exploratory design. Data based design. Types of data Primary data-interview, customers, company executives, experts. Secondary data-journals, magazines, internet, newspapers.

Measurement design. Structured questionnaire. Scaling. Depending on the data type choose among ordinal, nominal, interval, ratio scale. Sampling design. Convenient. Sample size. Sample size of the study is 30.

Statistical design. Tables & diagrammes are using for representing the data. In this study statistical tool using for analysing the data is % analysis method.

We cant collect sufficient data because MNP is in an introductory stage. Rate of response of customers may be low. The study is conducting among the customers of Vodafone in alappy, so the results may not affect other areas of Vodafone. The opinion of the respondences may be biased.
