y KOLKATA is a highly diversified city in terms of

culture and religion. y The majority of population is Hindus followed by Muslims, Christians & Sikhs. y KOLKATA is the fifth most populous city in India with a population of 4,486,679. (i.e. = 4.4 million) y Majority of the population comprises Bengalis. The Bihari minority is scattered throughout the state and communities of Sherpa's and ethnic Tibetans can be found in regions bordering Sikkim.

commonly used. Nepali is spoken primarily in the Darjeeling district.


y There were certain localities, which were once home to

20,000 ethnic Chinese, now the population has dropped to approximately 2,000.
y The traditional occupation of the Chinese community here

has been of working in the nearby tanning industry and the Chinese restaurants.

PEOPLE OF KOLKATA
y People of KOLKATA take the pride of the caste they

belong to and appreciate it when others offer respect towards their religion and culture. y All the age groups in Kolkata are fond of music as it forms one of the important part of their life. y Even in today's generation where people and custom change in split of second they have managed to keep their traditions and belief alive. y People of KOLKATA prefer listening to classical or Tollywood songs while on the move, be it in bus, personnel car or taxi.

CONSIDERATION
y The barriers of languages and cultures in every

different zones provide great challenges for the firms operating as with every zone a new strategy and idea might be required.
y The values and beliefs of the people staying in

KOLKATA represent the ancient culture and the society the people leaving in here.

y Looking at various norms, culture and traditions

followed in KOLKATA, understanding its various social & cultural aspect would be the prime important factor for COMFORTDELGRO.
y The mindset of people here is highly diverse in socio-

demographic background so it is very important for the company to establish long term relations with consumers & higher authorities too.

CONCLUSION
y As COMFORTDLGRO plans to open up a transport

by cab business in KOLKATA it would have to make sure of hiring the local drivers & workers for their daily working needs.
y It must also make sure that the local people employed

must have good knowledge of language and various locations of KOLKATA too.
