Training Programme

 Training program in the field of

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)

 Four-week annual training course on ICT for Meteorological Services since
2005
※ Training course on Weather Forecasting from Operational Meteorologists
from 1998 to 2005
 Designed to help the participants improve their IT related jobs in
meteorological
services by broadening the understanding of both basic and state-of-the-art
ICT
that are used in WMO IT Programs and meteorological services in NMSs
supported by KOICA
 4 participants from 13 WMO Members from 3 June to 2 July 2007
Training Programme

 Three-month training program in the field of climate

prediction
 Five participants from Indonesia, Peru, Mongolia, Philippines and Vietnam
from 4 August to 3 October 2007
 To contribute the reduction of economic losses, and the protection of
life and property among participating developing countries by  sharing
high-cost climate data and information and providing a skillful
   real-time climate prediction
Training Programme

 Two-week training course in the field of Meteorological Satellite

 13 participants from Indonesia, Peru, Mongolia, Philippines and Vietnam from
4 August to 3 October 2007
 To introduce the COMS (Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite)
which is the first Geostationary Meteorological Satellite launched by Korea in
2009 and make understand the COMS program such as development plan,
satellite system, and data processing system
Training Programme

 One-week training course in the field of Numerical Weather

Prediction
 ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Training Workshop for the use of Numerical Weather
Prediction Products from 30 October to 3 November 2006
 19 participants from 9 GEO Members
 To share KMA’s Global NWP Products and the use methods with ASEAN
Members
Training Programme

 GEO Training Workshop on Numerical Weather Prediction

 15 participants from 14 GEO Members from 9 to 13 April 2007
 To train forecasters or NWP relevant staff members from GEO Members in the
application and interpretation of NWP products and their use in operational
forecasting and to share the knowledge of NWP techniques with GEO
members
as a part of GEO Capacity building projects to improve their own capabilities
for
prevention of meteorological disasters.
Technology Transfer and Capacity Building

 Offer of NWP system based on PC clusters

 The system was installed in Mongolia Met. Service in 2004 and in Sri
Lanka
in 2005.
 NWP system support will be extended to other developing countries with
financial support of KOICA.
 KMA experts of PC clustering are dispatched to Mongolia Met. Service
every
year for system upgrade and technology transfer.
