Terminal Learning Objectives

Be able to identify and correctly use all contents of a standard issue CLS bag. Correctly establish a 9-line Medevac request.

Tasks

The instructor team will ensure that the students know ALL the contents of an army standard CLS bag and are fully capable and competent of the functions and uses of each item. Students will also be proficient and accurate with a 9-line Medevac while being highly motivated and eager to learn.

Conditions

In a classroom environment with a PowerPoint presentation and medical staff to assist with learning, questions, and hands-on techniques. Simulated trauma lanes to provide a realistic setting and aid in evaluation of competency.

Standards

Given a fully stocked Army standard CLS bag, effectively provide life saving measures to casualties by precedence while under fire, in a tactical field setting, and re-assessing while awaiting for a Medevac.

Report only applicable information: A=Urgent, B=Urgent-Surgical, C=Priority, D=Routine, E=Convenience. If more than one casualty fits a specific criteria, include the number of casualties before the letter. For example, 2A or 4C.

Special Equipment

A=None, B=Hoist, C=Extraction Equipment, D=Ventilator Use this line to request any other equipment you may need such as a replacement litter or any other supplies.

No. of Patients by Type

Differentiate which patients are capable of ambulating (A) and which patients require a litter (L). Combine the number of patients with the letter to which they correspond.

Security of Pick-up Site


Used as line 6 during wartime. N=No enemy troops in area P=Possible enemy troops in area(use caution) E=Enemy troops in area(use caution) X=Enemy troops in area(armed escort required)

Used as line 6 in peacetime. Include specific information regarding patient injuries by type (gunshot wounds, shrapnel, etc.) Report serious bleeding along with patient blood type if known.

Terrain Description

Used as line 9 during peacetime. Include details of terrain features in and around proposed landing site. If possible, relate landing site to a prominent terrain feature such as a lake, mountain, or tower.
