Benefits of proper performance evaluations:


Motivate employees to perform better (improve productivity) Help identify development & training needs (improve quality) Help understand how employees can develop and grow (increase morale) Improve the respect the employees have for their managers and senior management (inter-personal relations) Fosters good communication among team members and supervisors (transparency in the team) Helps identify poor performers and helps them get on track Lay the groundwork to release poor performers from duty, lawfully and fairly if they dont improve.

A. Fair & Communicative Environment: Employee behavior cannot be controlled. Since only they can control how they do their jobs, the key is to provide them with the right environment.

As a foundation of every system, respect will help develop good relations with the employees.

C. Focus on the FUTURE:
Feedback should not punish or shame employees for bad performance.

Help them see when their performance is slipping & strategize with them on how to improve. The look backward must be developmental and helpful to the employee rather than punitive.

D. Employee Participation:
Increase in Employee Satisfaction: 1. Employees trust the company & hence will commit to their own development. (INVOLVEMENT) 2. Information that employees bring to the table will provide crucial insights. (IMPROVEMENT)

E. Ongoing feedback:
Helps Employees adjust as circumstances change: Importance of certain goals may change Obstacles may appear Employees may lose motivation & focus Feedback will tell employees: What is still important?
