ISSUES REGARDING PARKING

Figures show that on 18 June Road, the peak parking accommodation was 735 vehicles (484 car spaces), 457 vehicles on Atmaram Borkar Road and 500 vehicles on M G Road.

Analysis also showed that 75 per cent of vehicles parked for less than one hour while 87 per cent for less than 2 hours on the main 4 roads.

Campal, Panaji face problem due to lack of parking space.

They are of the opinion that Kala Academys parking space falls short when programmes are held simultaneously in its various auditoriums and theatres. On such occasions people park vehicles on private properties, many a time even blocking entry into private houses

there are rumours that a Conference Hall, which will accommodate at least 2000 people, earlier proposed to be built at Dona Paula is now being considered for Campal.

This will prove disastrous for the residents of Campal.

Most of these super markets are housed in the new buildings constructed next to PWD roads. As per building rules the construction must be done at a distance of 15 metres from the centre of the road.

SMART SOLUTIONS FOR PARKING

By introducing the smart card-based parking passes that will, to some extent, solve problems with attendants. by constructing multi-storeyed parking complexes.

BCC authorities have promised that electronic meters will be installed in 95 parking lots in the city by contractors at their own cost.

The passes will be in the form of swipe cards pass will be valid for a year and will cost between Rs 100 and Rs 200 for two-wheelers and Rs 200 to Rs 400 for four-wheelers, per month The solution to the problem thus lies in providing alternate efficient and proper local transport government must rethink this project and shift it to an area where all requirements of the projects, including parking, are suitable provided for without inconveniencing residents of the neighbourhood. A casual survey of the city traffic reveals that more than 50 percent of the cars parked in the city belong to shop owners. This transit visitor constitutes in almost 80 percent of the city traffic, and if he had found legitimate parking space would not have spent less than an hour in the city. But now because he has no parking space, he spends more than that hour just hunting for parking, adding to fuel costs, adding to the traffic and wasting his own precious time.

CONTRIBUTION IN EXPORTS

Impact of Global Recession on Indian Car Industry

India is one of the few countries where car sales have been increasing in the course of the worldwide economic downturn. The effect of inflation has taken the rise in the price rate of the cars by 3-4% which in turn be sufficient to meet the rise in price of the raw materials to build a car. The effect of inflation has affected not only the production and sales of Indian cars but also has significantly affected the car dealer, officials and car financers.

Some other Problems with

Automobile

Sector
Effect of Rising Fuel Prices on Car Sales The cars today are run on petrol, diesel and gas. The price hike of all the three has led to a serious problem. The hike in petrol went by 5% whereas the price of diesel went up by 3%. The rise in the price of the fuel has depreciated the sales of cars by 8%.

Steps taken by government to overcome recession

Vehicle makers cut prices following a government reduction in value-added tax last December, part of a stimulus package to help the sector, and the central bank has made a series of rate cuts to spur the economy.

Steps taken by A leading company to overcome rescission

TATA Motors is shedding up to 3,000 temporary jobs at its Pune factory, weeks after its decision to cut production and dismiss a similar number of temporary workers at its Jamshedpur plant. The latest cuts could take the overall layoffs to around 6,000 workers.
