 Name: Quran names itself

There are two types of names of Quran

Proper Names : The names that are used
directly to point to it
Qualitative Names: Names that indicate
some quality of this book and are used in
a relative term
We will provide examples of both from the
Quran itself
 Proper Names : A. Quran (Which is recited again
and again)
Most Gracious! (It is He, Who has ) َ‫( عَّلمَ الْقُرْآن‬1) ُ‫الرّحْمَن‬
taught the Qur’an )) 2 -1 ‫رحمن‬
(Ch. 55: 1-2)

These are verses of Qur’an - a Book ٍ‫ن َو ِكتَابٍ ُمبِين‬

ِ ‫تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْقُرْآ‬
that makes things clear (Ch. 27: 2) )) 2 ‫النمل‬

We have made this Qur’an in َ‫جعَلْنَاهُ قُرْآناً عَ َر ِبيّا لَ َعلّ ُك ْم َتعْقِلُون‬

understand it (Ch. 43: 3)

B. FURQAN: i.e. Criterion to Judge between right and wrong

Blessed is He Who sent down the ِ‫عبْ ِده‬

َ ‫علَى‬
َ َ‫تَبَارَكَ اّلذِي نَ ّزلَ الْفُرْقَان‬
FURQAN, (i.e. Criterion) to His ً‫ن َنذِيرا‬
َ ‫ن لِ ْلعَالَمِي‬
َ ‫ِل َيكُو‬
servant, that it may be an ))1 ‫الفرقان‬
admonition to all creatures
(Ch. 25: 1)
C. Al KITAB: The Book
This is the Book; in is the guidance no doubt َ‫ب ل َريْبَ فِيهِ هُدًى لِلْ ُمتّقِين‬
ُ ‫ذَ ِلكَ الْ ِكتَا‬
(Ch. 2: 2) ))2 ‫البقرة‬
(It is He Who) sent down to you the Book In )3 ‫حقّ (آل عمران‬
َ ْ‫نَزّ َل عَ َل ْيكَ الْ ِكتَابَ بِال‬
Truth (Ch. 3: 3)

D. Al ZIKR: The Remembrance

We have without doubt, sent down this َ‫ن نَزّ ْلنَا الذّكْرَ َوِإنّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُون‬
ُ‫ح‬ْ َ‫ِإنّا ن‬
Remembrance and We will guard it ))9 ‫حجر‬
(from corruption) (Ch. 15: 9)
By the Qur’an, full of remembrance )2 ‫ص وَالْقُرْآنِ ذِي الذّكْرِ (ص‬

Qualitative names of Qur’an:

A. MAJEED: i.e. Glorious

Nay! This is Glorious Qur’an

a convincing proof from your Lord

F. HABL-AL-ALLAH: i.e. Rope from Allah
And hold fast all together, by the Rope
which Allah (stretches to you) and be not
divided among you (Ch. 3: 103)

 3. Who is the Author of Qur’an: It is not
written by Prophet Mohammad
Revelation of this book in which there ّ‫تَنزِيلُ ا ْل ِكتَابِ ل َريْبَ فِيهِ مِنْ رَب‬
is no doubt - from the Lord of the )2 ‫ا ْلعَالَمِينَ (السجده‬
Worlds (Ch. 32: 2)
It is We who have sent down this ً‫ِإنّا نَحْنُ نَ ّز ْلنَا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ َتنْزِيل‬
Qur’an to you by stages (Ch. 76: 23) )23 ‫(الدهر‬
We have without doubt, sent down this َ‫ن نَزّلْنَا الذّكْرَ وَِإنّا لَ ُه لَحَافِظُون‬
ُ ْ‫ِإنّا نَح‬
message and … (Ch. 15: 9) )9 ‫(الحجر‬
The revelation of this Book is from ِ‫تَنزِيلُ الْكِتَابِ مِنْ الِّ ا ْلعَزِيزِ ا ْل َعلِيم‬
Allah, Exalted in power, full of )2 ‫(مؤمن‬
knowledge (Ch. 40: 2)
There are many such verses, clarifying that Quran is not written by the
prophet, It was indeed revealed to him.
 4. Qur’an is not the Word of Men
This Qur’an is not such as can be
produced by other than Allah
(Ch. 10:37)
Say:” Don’t you see, if this is from
Allah ...” (Ch. 46:10)
Have they not pondered on Quran with
Care? Had it been from other than
Allah, they would surely found in it
much discrepancy (Ch. 4: 82)
ْ‫وَمَا كَانَ هَذَا الْقُرْآنُ أَن‬
ِّ‫ن دُونِ ال‬ ْ ِ‫يُ ْفتَرَى م‬

 5. Where is the Origin of Qur’an
Nay , this is a Glorious Qur’an, ٍ‫( فِي َلوْح‬21) ٌ‫َبلْ ُهوَ قُرْآنٌ مَجِيد‬
inscribed in a Tablet Preserved )22-21 ‫مَحْفُوظٍ (البروج‬
(Ch. 85: 21-22)
This is indeed a Qur’an most ٍ‫( فِي ِكتَاب‬77) ٌ‫ِإنّهُ لَقُرْآنٌ كَرِيم‬
honourable, In a book well ّ‫( ل يَمَسّهُ إِل‬78) ٍ‫مَ ْكنُون‬
guarded, which none shall touch )79-77 ‫طهّرُونَ (الواقعة‬ َ ُ‫الْم‬
but those who are clean
(Ch. 56: 77-79)
In Book held in honour, Exalted ٍ‫( مَرْفُوعَة‬13) ٍ‫فِي صُحُفٍ مُكَرّمَة‬
kept pure and holy, (written) by ٍ‫( بِأَيْدِي سَفَ َرة‬14) ٍ‫طهّرَة‬ َ ُ‫م‬
hands of scribes Honourable, ٍ‫( كِرَا ٍم بَرَرَة‬15)
pious and just (Ch. 80: 13-16) ) )16-13 ‫عبس‬
 6. When the Qur’an was sent down

We have indeed revealed this ِ‫إِنّا أَنزَلْنَا ُه فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْر‬

(message) in the night of power )1 ‫(القدر‬
(Ch. 97: 1)
We sent it down during a blessed ٍ‫إِنّا أَنزَلْنَا ُه فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَة‬
night (Ch. 44: 3) )3 ‫(الدخان‬
Ramadan is the month in which We ِ‫ل فِيه‬َ ‫شهْرُ َرمَضَانَ الّذِي أُن ِز‬ َ
sent down the Qur’an )185 ‫الْقُرْآنُ (البقرة‬
(Ch. 2: 185)
Qur’an, from The Preserved Tablet, came down to the heavens just above the
earth in the month of Ramadan. Actual revelation started on “The Night of
Power” (which is also one night in the month of Ramadan) and it took almost
23 years to complete the revelation.
 7. Who Brought The Qur’an?

With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth ُ‫نَ َز َل بِهِ الرّوحُ الَمِين‬
(Ch. 26: 193) ) )193 ‫الشعراء‬
Say: “The holy spirit has brought the revelation َ‫ربّك‬
َ ْ‫ُق ْل نَ ّزلَهُ رُوحُ الْقُدُسِ مِن‬
from your lord in truth (Ch. 16: 102) ) 102‫بِالْحَقّ (نحل‬
Say: “Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel, for he ُ‫ن كَانَ عَ ُدوّا لِجِبْرِيلَ َف ِإنّه‬ ْ َ‫ُقلْ م‬
brings down the revelation to your heart by ِّ‫ك ِبإِذْنِ ال‬
َ ِ‫علَى قَ ْلب‬
َ ُ‫نَ ّزلَه‬
Allah’s will (Ch. 2: 97)
)97 ‫(البقرة‬
So according to Qur’an, Archangel Gabriel was the one who brought the
revelation to our prophet. His qualities of trust and high position are
highlighted to prove that he did not hide any thing and completed his trust
fully.
7A. Who was the Receiver of Qur’an? – Prophet
Mohammad

To your heart and Mind, so that ْ‫ن مِن‬

َ ‫عَلَى قَلْ ِبكَ لِتَكُو‬
you be of the Warner َ‫ا ْلمُنذِرِين‬
(Ch. 26:194) ))194 ‫الشعراء‬
And believe in which is Revealed ‫وَآمَنُوا بِمَا نُ ّز َل عَلَى‬
to Muhammed (Ch. 47: 3) )3 ‫حمّدٍ (محمد‬ َ ُ‫م‬
8. Qur’an was not corrupted during revelation

(far from interference and corruption) ِ‫عنْ السّ ْمع‬

َ ‫إِ ّنهُ ْم‬
Indeed they (Satan) have been َ‫َلمَعْزُولُون‬
removed far from even hearing it
((212 ‫الشعراء‬
(Ch. 26: 212)
(This Qur’an) are not the words of ٍ‫وَمَا ُهوَ بِقَوْ ِل شَيْطَان‬
Satan, the rejected one (Ch. 81: 25) (25 ‫رَجِيمٍ )التكوير‬
 9. Qur’an shall remain pure at all times

We have without doubt, sent down this ‫ر وَإِنّا‬

َ ْ‫إِنّا نَحْنُ نَزّلْنَا الذّك‬
message and We will guard it (from َ‫لَهُ لَحَافِظُون‬
corruption) (Ch. 15: 9)
))9 ‫حجر‬
No Falsehood can approach it from ِ‫ط ُل مِنْ بَيْن‬ِ ‫ل يَأْتِيهِ الْبَا‬
Front or from Behind it… ِ‫يَدَيْهِ وَل ِمنْ خَلْفِه‬
(Ch. 41: 42)
ٍ‫حمِيد‬ َ ٍ‫تَنزِي ٌل ِمنْ حَكِيم‬
)42 ‫(فصلت‬
No adulteration or corruption is possible in Qur’an, neither in its text,
nor in its meaning. Past History of 1400 years is ample proof of this.
No other book has remained so pure for so long a time.
 10. Human beings are not even capable to
bring anything like Qur’an

Say: “If the whole of mankind and Jinn ّ‫جن‬ِ ْ‫س وَال‬ ُ ‫ت الِن‬ ْ َ‫ن اجْتَمَع‬ ْ ‫ُقلْ لَ ِئ‬
were to gather together to produce ‫عَلَى َأنْ يَأْتُوا بِ ِم ْثلِ هَذَا‬
ْ‫ن بِ ِمثْلِهِ وَ َلو‬
َ ‫ن ل يَ ْأتُو‬ ِ ‫الْقُرْآ‬
the like of this Qur’an, they could ً‫ظهِيرا‬ َ ٍ‫ضهُمْ ِلبَعْض‬ ُ ْ‫كَانَ بَع‬
not produce the like thereof, even if )88 ‫(بني إسرائيل‬
they backed up each other
(Ch. 17: 88).
If you are in doubt regarding what we ‫َوِإنْ كُنتُمْ فِي َريْبٍ مِمّا نَزّ ْلنَا عَلَى‬
have sent down to our servant, Then ‫عبْدِنَا فَ ْأتُوا بِسُورَةٍ ِمنْ ِمثْلِ ِه‬ َ
)23 ‫(البقرة‬
produce a Sura like it (2:23)
This Qur’anic challenge is unanswered during past 1400 years.
 11. Warning to those who will still insist that
Qur’an is Man’s World

(He said) This is nothing but the word
of a mortal. Soon will cast him into
Hell-Fire (Ch. 74: 25-26)
(Then Bring a Sura like it…) But if you
cannot, and of a surety you cannot,
the fear the fire, whose fuel is men
and stones (Ch. 2: 24)
ِ‫إِنْ هَذَا إِلّ َق ْولُ ا ْلبَشَر‬
َ‫صلِيهِ سَقَر‬ ْ ‫سُأ‬
َ
))26-25 ‫المدثر‬
‫ن لَمْ تَفْ َعلُوا َولَنْ تَفْ َعلُوا‬
ْ ِ‫َفإ‬
‫فَاتّقُوا النّارَ اّلتِي وَقُودُهَا‬
ْ‫س وَالْحِجَارَةُ أُعِدّت‬ ُ ‫النّا‬
)24 ‫ِللْكَافِرِينَ (البقرة‬

Here is a clear warning from Allah that if anyone shall still

persist in his claims that Qur’an is Man’s word, his
punishment shall be Hell Fire and beware Hell is no joke.
 12. What Quran Demand from Us?

Its demands on us consist of

Its Recitation
Deliberation on its meanings
To live by it
Spread its message
12A. Its Recitation

Recite what is sent down by inspiration ِ‫ن ا ْل ِكتَاب‬

ْ ِ‫ا ْتلُ مَا أُوحِيَ ِإ َليْكَ م‬
to you (Ch. 29:T 45) )45 ‫(العنكبوت‬

And Recite the Qur’an in slow ً‫ن تَرْتِيل‬

َ ‫وَ َر ّتلْ الْقُرْآ‬
measured rhythmic tones (Ch. 73: 4) ))4 ‫المزمل‬

And to rehearse the Qur’an َ‫وَأَنْ َأ ْتُلوَ الْقُرْآن‬

(Ch. 27: 92) ( )92 ‫النمل‬
 12B. To Meditate on its meaning

Do they not then earnestly seek to ‫علَى‬

َ ْ‫أَفَل يَتَ َدبّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ أَم‬
understand the Qur’an, or are their )24 ‫قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَاُلهَا (محمد‬
hearts locked up? (Ch. 47: 24)

(Here is) a Book which We have sent ٌ‫ِكتَابٌ أَن َز ْلنَاهُ ِإ َليْكَ ُمبَارَك‬
down to you, full of blessings, that )29 ‫ِليَدّبّرُوا آيَاتِهِ (ص‬
they may mediate on its signs
(Ch. 38: 29)
 12C. To live by it

If any fail to judge by (the light of) ‫و من لَ ْم يَحْكُ ْم بِمَا أَنزَلَ الُّ فَُأوَْل ِئ َك‬
what Allah has revealed, they are ْ‫ هُم‬...َ‫هُمْ الْكَافِرُون‬
َ‫ الظّالِمُون‬....
(no better than) unbelievers….
47-44 ‫)هُمْ الْفَاسِقُونَ (المائدة‬
Wrong Doers… Rebels
(Ch. 6: 44-47)

We have sent down to you the book in ّ‫ب بِالْحَق‬

َ ‫ِإنّا أَن َز ْلنَا إِ َليْكَ الْكِتَا‬
truth, that you might judge between ‫س بِمَا‬
ِ ‫حكُمَ َبيْنَ النّا‬ ْ َ‫ِلت‬
men as guided by Allah (Ch. 4: 105) )105 ‫أَرَاكَ الُّ (النساء‬
Quran demands from its readers to accept and implement its teaching
and instructions.
 12D. Spreading its message

O Apostle! Proclaim the (message) َ‫يَا َأ ّيهَا الرّسُو ُل َبلّغْ مَا أُن ِزل‬
which has been sent to you from َ‫ِإ َليْكَ مِنْ َربّك‬
your Lord ))67 ‫المايده‬
(Ch. 5: 67)

Thus We have sent by inspiration to ً‫حيْنَا ِإ َليْكَ قُرْآنا‬

َ ْ‫وَ َكذَلِكَ َأو‬
you an Arabic Qur’an: that you may ‫عَ َر ِبيّا ِلتُنْذِرَ ُأمّ الْقُرَى‬
warn The Mother of Cities ‫ح ْو َلهَا‬
َ ْ‫وَمَن‬
(Makkah) and all around her ) )7 ‫الشورى‬
(Ch. 42: 7)
 13. Purpose of Qur’an : Guidance

A. Guidance to Humanity
Guidance to (all) Mankind (Ch. 3: 185) )4 ‫ (آل عمران‬, ‫هُدًى لِلنّاس‬

B. Guidance to those who have certain qualities

Guidance and good news to the believers )2 ‫هُدًى َوبُشْرَى لِلْمُؤْ ِمنِينَ (النمل‬
(Ch. 27: 2)
Guidance to those who fear Allah )2 ‫هُدًى لِلْ ُمتّقِينَ البقرة‬
(Ch. 2: 2)
Guidance and Mercy to the doers of good )3 ‫سنِينَ (لقمان‬
ِ ْ‫هُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِلْمُح‬
(Ch. 31: 3)
Guidance and message to men of understanding ‫هُدًى وَذِكْرَى لُولِي الَ ْلبَابِ (غافر‬
(Ch. 41: 54) )54
Qur’an provides guidance to everyone, but the people who really benefit
from it are those who have qualities given here.
 14. Why Qur’an was revealed gradually? –
A common doubt
Those who reject faith say “Why is not the
Qur’an revealed to him all at once?”
Because, We may strengthen your heart
thereby, ….
…And no question they bring to you, but We
reveal to you the truth and best explanation
(Ch. 25: 32,33)
ِ‫وَقَالَ الّذِينَ كَفَرُوا َلوْل نُ ّز َل عَ َليْه‬
َ‫الْقُرْآنُ جُمْلَ ًة وَاحِدَةً كَذَ ِلك‬
ً‫ت بِهِ فُؤَا َدكَ وَ َرتّ ْلنَا ُه تَ ْرتِيل‬َ ّ‫ِل ُن َثب‬
ّ‫( وَل يَ ْأتُو َنكَ بِمَثَ ٍل ِإل‬32)
ً‫ن تَفْسِيرا‬ َ‫س‬ َ ْ‫حقّ َوأَح‬ َ ْ‫ج ْئنَاكَ بِال‬
ِ
)32,33 ‫(الفرقان‬

A Qur’an, which We have divided into parts, in ِ‫وَقُرْآناً فَرَ ْقنَاهُ ِلتَقْرَأَ ُه عَلَى النّاس‬
order that you might recite it to men at ً‫ث َونَزّ ْلنَا ُه تَنزِيل‬
ٍ ْ‫عَلَى مُك‬
intervals: We have revealed it by stages ) )106 ‫بني إسرائيل‬
(17: 106)
Qur’an itself gives the reasons why it was revealed in stages. In order for
ease of remembrance and to explain and clarify its meaning and show
applications to a particular situation.
 15. Basic and Allegorical verses in Qur’an:
According to Qur’an both types are available in its text.

…In it are verses Basic or
Fundamental, they are the
foundation of the book. Others are
allegorical. But those in whose heart
is perversity follow the part which is
Allegorical, seeking for discord and
hidden meanings (Ch. 3: 7)
َ‫ُهوَ اّلذِي َأنْ َزلَ عَ َليْكَ الْ ِكتَاب‬
ّ‫حكَمَاتٌ هُنّ ُأم‬ ْ ُ‫ِمنْ ُه آيَاتٌ م‬
ٌ‫ا ْل ِكتَابِ وَأُخَرُ ُمتَشَا ِبهَات‬
ْ‫فَأَمّا اّلذِينَ فِي قُلُو ِبهِم‬
َ‫َزيْغٌ فَ َي ّت ِبعُونَ مَا تَشَابَه‬
َ‫مِنْهُ ابْتِغَاءَ الْ ِفتْنَ ِة وَابْتِغَاء‬
)7 ‫َت ْأوِيلِهِ (آل عمران‬

Book with verses Basic, then further ْ‫صلَت‬

ّ ‫ِكتَابٌ أُحْكِمَتْ آيَاتُ ُه ُثمّ ُف‬
explained from one, who is Wise and ٍ‫خبِير‬َ ٍ‫حكِيم‬َ ْ‫مِنْ َلدُن‬
Well acquainted (Ch. 11: 2) ))2 ‫هود‬
 15A. Examples of Basic Verses:
Say: “Come, I will tell what Allah has
(really) prohibited. Join not any
partner with Him, Be good to your
parents, and Kill not your children on
plea of want (Ch. 6: 151)
Allah commands justice, the doing of ‫ن‬
good and liberality to kith and kin
and He forbids all shameful deeds,
and injustice and rebellion. He
instructs you that you may receive
admonition (Ch. 16: 90)
Let there be no compulsion in religion,
guidance has been distinguished from
the falsehood (Ch. 2: 256)
ْ‫ُق ْل َتعَا َلوْا أَ ْتلُ مَا حَ ّرمَ رَبّ ُكم‬
ً‫شيْئا‬َ ِ‫ع َل ْي ُكمْ أَلّ تُشْرِكُوا بِه‬ َ
‫َوبِا ْلوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَان ًا وَل‬
ٍ‫تَقْتُلُوا َأوْلدَ ُكمْ مِنْ إِمْلق‬
)151 ‫(النعام‬
ِ ‫لّ َيأْمُ ُر بِا ْلعَ ْد ِل وَالِحْسَا‬ َ ‫إِنّ ا‬
‫وَإِيتَاءِ ذِي الْقُ ْربَى َو َي ْنهَى‬
ِ‫عَنْ الْفَحْشَا ِء وَالْمُنكَر‬
ْ‫ظ ُكمْ َلعَّل ُكم‬
ُ ِ‫ي َيع‬

Near the last Lote-tree…. Behold the ‫عنْدَ سِدْرَةِ الْ ُم ْن َتهَى عِنْدَهَا‬

Such are some of the stories ‫تِ ْلكَ ِمنْ أَنْبَاءِ الْغَيْبِ نُوحِيهَا إِلَ ْيكَ مَا‬
of the unseen, which We have ِ‫كُنتَ تَعْلَ ُمهَا أَنْتَ وَل قَوْ ُمكَ ِمنْ قَ ْبل‬
revealed to you (11:49)

Say: Come I tell you what Allah has
truly forbidden, that you associate
no partners.. (6:151)

children, to the male a portion

Prohibited to you are dead meat,
blood, swine’s flesh (6:3)

 21 . Qur’an and previous scriptures:
Qur’an confirms previous scriptures and at the same
time acts as a guard over them.
To You, We sent a scripture in truth ّ‫ب بِالْحَق‬َ ‫وَأَن َز ْلنَا ِإ َليْكَ ا ْل ِكتَا‬
confirming the scripture that came ْ‫ن يَ َديْهِ مِن‬َ ْ‫ُمصَدّقاً لِمَا بَي‬
before it and guarding it in safety ِ‫ا ْل ِكتَابِ وَ ُم َهيْمِناً عَ َليْه‬
(Ch. 5: 48) 48 ‫(المائدة‬
Verily this Qur’an does explain to the ‫علَى‬َ ّ‫ن يَقُص‬ َ ‫إِنّ َهذَا الْقُرْآ‬
children of Israel most of the ‫َبنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ َأ ْكثَرَ اّلذِي‬
matters in which they disagree َ‫ختَلِفُون‬ْ َ‫ُهمْ فِيهِ ي‬
(Ch. 27: 76) ) )76 ‫النمل‬
If we use Qur’an as the Criterion of judging old scriptures,
we may clarify many mistakes and contradictions available
in existing Scriptures manuscripts.
 21 A. Examples
According to Bible
God created heavens and earth is six days and on
seventh day He rested and was refreshed.
(Genesis)
Adam ate from the forbidden tree on the advice of Eve,
so woman was responsible for the fall of man
(Genesis)
Aaron made the golden calf and worshipped it.
(Exodus)
Jesus is the begotten son of God. (John )
Jesus died on Cross and carried away the sins of those
who shall believe in his Crucifixion.
God has three persons, Father Son and Holy Ghost and
they form a Triune God (Holy Trinity)
According to Qur’an
Allah created heavens and earth is six days (stages),
but the work did not tire Him. (Qur’an ‘s
version is more suited to the majesty of Creator)
Qur’an never blames Eve as the first offender. In
Qur’an, Adam & Eve are mentioned together,
that they ate from the forbidden tree, Qur’an
also tells that both repented and Allah forgave
them (No Original Sin according to Qur’an))
As per Qur’an, It was Samiri not Aaron who made
the golden calf.
Qur’an while accepting the miraculous birth of Jesus
(Pace be on him), without male intervention,
denies any divinity to Jesus or to any of Allah’s
creature..
Qur’an says that Jesus was not killed, not crucified.
Allah saved him and took him to heavens.
Further no one will take the blame of others.
Qur’an rejects with force any persons in Godhood
and insists that Allah is absolute unity. There
are no partners or equals with Him.
 22. Penalty for Ignoring Qur’anic Teachings:
If anyone withdraws himself from remembrance ِ ‫عنْ ذِكْرِ الرّحْ َم‬
‫ن‬ َ ‫ش‬ ُ ْ‫وَ َمنْ يَع‬
of Most Gracious, We will appoint for him an ٌ‫نُ َقيّضْ لَهُ شَيْطَاناً َف ُهوَ لَهُ قَرِين‬
evil one, to be intimate companion to him )36 ‫(زخرف‬
(Ch. 43: 36)

But whosoever turns away from my message, ُ‫عنْ ذِكْرِي فَِإنّ لَه‬ َ ‫ض‬ َ َ‫وَ َمنْ َأعْر‬
verily for him is a life narrowed down and We َ‫مَعِيشَةً ضَنك ًا َونَحْشُرُ ُه َيوْم‬
shall raise him up blind on the day of ‫( قَالَ رَبّ لِ َم‬124) ‫الْ ِقيَامَةِ َأعْمَى‬
judgement. ً‫ت بَصِيرا‬ ُ ‫حَشَرْتَنِي َأعْمَى وَقَدْ كُن‬
He will say “O My Lord! Why have you raised ‫ك َأ َت ْتكَ آيَا ُتنَا‬
َ ‫( قَالَ كَذَ ِل‬125)
me up blind, while I had sight before” ‫َفنَسِي َتهَا وَكَذَ ِلكَ ا ْل َيوْ َم تُنسَى (طه‬
(Allah) will say: : “Thus did you, when our signs )126-124
came to you disregarded them, so will you be
disregarded on this day (Ch. 20: 124-126)
 23. How to spread the message of Qur’an?
Invite (all) to the Way of Your Lord ‫حكْمَ ِة‬ِ ْ‫ك بِال‬ َ ّ‫سبِيلِ َرب‬ َ ‫ادْعُ ِإلَى‬
with wisdom and beautiful preaching: ِ‫سنَة‬ َ َ‫وَالْ َموْعِظَةِ الْح‬
and argue with them in ways that are ‫ن‬ ُ َ‫وَجَا ِد ْلهُ ْم بِاّلتِي هِيَ أَحْس‬
best (Ch. 16: 125) )125 ‫(النحل‬
And dispute not with the People of the ّ‫وَل تُجَادِلُوا أَ ْهلَ ا ْل ِكتَابِ ِإل‬
Book except with better means, unless it َ‫بِاّلتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ إِلّ الّذِين‬
be those who cause injury ْ‫ظلَمُوا ِم ْن ُهم‬
َ
(Ch. 29: 46) ))46 ‫العنكبوت‬
Say: O people of the Book! Come to ‫ب َتعَا َلوْا‬ ِ ‫ُقلْ يَا أَ ْهلَ الْكِتَا‬
common terms as between us and you: ‫سوَا ٍء بَ ْي َننَا‬َ ٍ‫إِلَى كَلِمَة‬
That we worship none but Allah; That ‫لّ وَل‬ َ ‫َو َب ْي َن ُكمْ أَ ّل نَعْبُدَ إِلّ ا‬
we associate no partners with Him… َ‫خذ‬
ِ ّ‫شيْئ ًا وَل َيت‬ َ ِ‫ك بِه‬ َ ِ‫نُشْر‬
(Ch. 3: 64) ْ‫ضنَا بَعْضاً أَ ْربَاباً مِن‬ ُ ‫َب ْع‬
)64 ‫دُونِ الِّ (آل عمران‬
 24. How to spread the message of Qur’an?

Revile not those whom they call upon َ‫ن َيدْعُون‬َ ‫سبّوا اّلذِي‬ ُ َ‫وَل ت‬
besides Allah, lest they out of spite َّ‫سبّوا ال‬
ُ َ‫ن دُونِ الِّ َفي‬ ْ ِ‫م‬
revile Allah in their ignorance ‫ع ْلمٍ (النعام‬
ِ ِ‫عَدْوًا ِب َغيْر‬
(Ch. 6: 108) )108
Qur’an teaches us that we should take care of following when
preaching its message to others:
- We should preach with wisdom and with kind words.
- We should try to first mention the commonalties in the faiths.
The differences could be discussed afterwards.
- We should not revile the deities and religious persons of other
faiths. It only causes more harm and little profit.
- We should be ready to face criticism and harsh words from
our “Friends”.
 25- Supplications mentioned in Qur’an:
Qur’an gives many beautiful supplications. Sometimes these are taught
from Allah Himself. Sometimes supplications from Prophets and Righteous
people of past generations are recorded. All these supplications are
acceptable to Allah and many times refer to such subtle issues which our
minds could not imagine with ease. A few examples are given below:

Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate after You ‫َر ّبنَا ل تُ ِزغْ قُلُو َبنَا بَعْ َد إِذْ هَ َد ْي َتنَا‬
have guided us, but grant us mercy from Your ً‫ب َلنَا مِنْ لَ ُدنْكَ رَحْمَة‬
ْ َ‫وَه‬
own presence, for you are granter of bounties ُ‫ِإنّكَ أَنْتَ ا ْلوَهّاب‬
without measure (Ch. 3: 8)
))8 ‫آل عمران‬
Our Lord! Give us good in this world and good in ً‫سنَة‬َ َ‫َر ّبنَا آتِنَا فِي ال ّدنْيَا ح‬
the hereafter and defend us from the torment ‫سنَ ًة وَ ِقنَا‬
َ َ‫وَفِي الخِ َرةِ ح‬
of the Fire. (Ch. 2: 201)

Our Lord! We have wronged our own ‫ن َل ْم‬

souls: If you will not forgive us and will
not bestow your mercy, we shall
certainly be lost (Ch. 7: 23)
O My Lord! Make me one who
establishes regular prayers and also
(raise such) from my offspring. Our
Lord! Accept my prayers.
Our Lord! Cover us with your
forgiveness, My parents and (all)
believers on the day that the Reckoning
will be established. (Ch. 14:40-41)

Our Lord! Forgive us and our brethren who
came before us into faith, and leave not into
our hearts Rancour (or sense of injury)
against those who have believed.
Our Lord! You are indeed full of Kindness and
Most Merciful. (Ch. 59: 10)
Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall
into error.
Our Lord! Place not on us a burden like that
which you placed on those before us
Our Lord! Place not on us a burden greater than
we have strength to bear
And grant us forgiveness, have mercy on us, You
are our protector, Help us against those who
stand against faith (Ch. 2: 286)
َ‫خوَا ِننَا الّذِين‬
ْ ِ‫َر ّبنَا اغْفِرْ َلنَا َول‬
ْ‫سَبَقُونَا بِالِيمَانِ وَل تَجْعَل‬

َ‫إِصْراً كَمَا حَمَ ْلتَ ُه عَلَى الّذِين‬
‫ِمنْ َقبِْلنَا َر ّبنَا وَل تُحَمّ ْلنَا مَا‬
‫عنّا‬ َ ُ‫ل طَاقَةَ َلنَا بِهِ وَاعْف‬
َ‫وَاغْفِرْ َلنَا وَارْحَ ْمنَا َأنْت‬

 26. Conclusion

1. Glory to your Lord, the Lord of ‫سبحان ربك رب العزَة‬

honour and power! (He is free) from ‫عمَـا يصفون‬
what they ascribe (to Him). And
‫و سل ٌم على‬
peace be to (all) the Apostles. And
praise is to Allah, the Lord and ‫المرسلين‬
Cherisher of Words. (Ch. 37:180-182) ‫و الحمد ل رب‬
2. And may Allah’s peace and blessings ‫العالمين‬
be to our prophet Muhammed and his ‫و صلى ال على‬
progeny and on all of his companions ‫نبينا محمد و آله و‬
‫أصحابه أجمعين‬
