It is not a mental disorder. It is a maladaptive behavior. It is the possession of abnormal personality traits.

It is a long lasting most of the time lifelong problem. It causes significant impairment in socialoccupational functioning. It produces distress to the individual and to others.

CHARACTERISTICS:

INTERVENTIONS:

The person has idea of reference. Has belief of magical-thinking. Has unusual perceptual experiences including bodily illusion. Peculiar thinking. Person is very superstitious. Stereotypical, over elaborate things. Blunted or inappropriate affect. Eccentric appearance or behavior. Few close relationships. Uncomfortable in social situations.

Improve the behavior to become an appropriate one. Present reality. It is much better that the client hears what you are talking when in front of the individual to decrease suspiciousness.

CHARACTERISTICS:
doesn t want to socialize, prefers to be alone and detached. Lacks desire for close relationship/friend. Chooses to be alone; lack sexual experiences. Avoid activities. Appears cold and detached.

INTERVENTIONS:

Encourage socializations by joining programs and organizations in the community.

CHARACTERISTICS:

INTERVENTIONS:

Suspicious, jealous, shorttempered, often humorless and serious. Sometimes potential to violence because of suspiciousness. More common to men. Fear in confiding with others. Fear personal information will be used against him. Interpret remarks as demeaning and threatening. Holds grudges towards others. Become angry and threatening when they perceived to be attacked by others.

Develop trust with other people. If talking in front of the individual, let them hear what you are saying. Do not touch the patient without warning.

(Dependent or the Anxious and Fearful)

CHARACTERISTICS:

Avoids occupations involving interpersonal contact due to fears of disapproval and rejection. Uninvolved with others unless certain of being liked. Fears intimate relationships due to fear of shame/ridicule. Preoccupied of being criticized or rejected in social situations. Inhibited and feels inadequate in new interpersonal situations. Believes self to be socially inept (awkward) and appealing and inferior to others. Very reluctant to take risk or engage in activities due to possibility of being embarrassed.

Recognition, invitation and promotion of self-esteem.

CHARACTERISTICS:

most commonly seen in toddlers. Patient unable to make daily decision without much advice and reassurances. Needs others to be responsible for important areas in life. Seldom disagrees with others because of fear of lose of support or approval. Problems with any shaping with projects or doing things on his own because of little self-confidence. Performs unpleasant task to obtain support from others. Anxious or helpless when alone because of fear of being unable to care for self. Urgently seeks another relationship for support and after a close relationship ends. Preoccupied with fear of being alone to care for self.

Encourage assertive training on individual to develop independence. Increase the responsibility of the individual.

CHARACTERISTICS:

Preoccupied with details, list, rules and organizations. Perfectionism that interferes with task completion. Too busy working to have friends and leisure activity. Over contentious and inflexible. Unable to discard worthless or worn out object.

Others must do things in his/her way in work or taskrelated activities. Reluctant to spend and hoard money. Rigid and stubborn.

(Antisocial/Dramatic Emotional Flamboyant)

dramatizes all events and draws attention to self. Overly dramatic Draws attention to self. Extrovert and thrives on being the center of attraction. Person uses somatic complaints to avoid responsibilities and support dependency.

Positive reinforcement in the form of attention, recognition/praise or give unselfish or uncentered behavior.

may be due to neglect over involvement or abusive family having usual defense mechanism is Splitting . Frantic avoidance of abandonment, real or imagined. Offer activities to divert attention. Offer self by being available when needed.

Consistency and firmness in confronting behaviors. Consistency in imposing rules and policies. Do not tolerate manipulative behavior; learn to say NO .
