INTRODUCTION
RESEARCH QUESTION Can the problem solving technique improve the speaking ability of the second year students Of SMP Negeri 10 kendari? What extent problem solving technique improve the speaking ability of the second year students of SMP Negeri 10 kendari? OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY To improve the speaking students ability trough problem solving technique of the second year students, of SMP Negeri 10 Kendari. To know the effectiveness of problem solving technique in improving speaking ability of the second year students at SMP Negeri 10 Kendari.
INTRODUCTION
Speaking is one way of human being to make connections with other which requires the spontaneous application of language habits. Cooperative learning is strategies in which the students work together to reach a shared goal, within cooperative learning the student maximize their own and each other learning with member striving for join benefit. Problem solving is the technique presses of resolving the unsettled matter, of finding an answer to a difficult, in is process that result in a solution to problem.
Literature Review
Theory of Speaking Harmer (1983) states that when two people are engaged in talking to each Other we can be fairly sure that they in general way to suggest that a speaker makes a define decision to address someone.

Cooperative learning is a successful teaching strategy in which small teams; each with students of different levels of ability uses a variety of learning activities to improve their understanding of subject. Problem solving is a means of involving students in developing their skill presenting ideas, opinions, suggestion, and the like and arriving the solutions, Johnson (1975:257) define that problem solving in process resolving unsettled matters of finding an answer to a difficulty.
METHODOLOGY
Design of this study, the researcher used preexperimental with one group pre-test and post-test design.

The instrument of this study is speaking test. The forms of this test is essay test. The total items of the test are 30 number.
In collecting data of The data was this study, the writer collected through the followed step: pretest, test and analyzed treatment and post- quantitatively: test.

Some students give suggestions to their English teacher in order to use the same method because they have never got speaking practice before the researcher did this research and some students are interested in speaking.
Based on the results of data analysis and conclusion, the writer puts forward some suggestions as follows: It is suggest to the English teacher to apply the Cooperative Learning Technique The researcher concludes that the application of cooperative learning in teaching process particularly in speaking skill was relax, easier and fun. The students also were more cheerful active. Independent and diligent to follow the class. They can do all their activity together and also can shave information each other.
