Mobile GIS
What is Mobile GIS?
Mobile GIS integrates GNSS Solutions into GIS and lets you take location intelligence from the office into the field, and re-integrate back into GIS. A mobile GIS enables field based personnel to capture, store, update, manipulate, analyse, and display geographic information. Taking GIS into the field opens up new opportunities for more up-to-date and accurate GIS data.

What is Mobile GIS?

Mobile GIS integrates one or more of the
following technologies:
Mobile devices Global Positioning Systems (GPS or GNSS)

Wireless communications for Internet GIS access enabling Sub 0.5m Accuracy using CORS Networks.
Office Based Software enables Post Processing of Raw GNSS, either using CORS Networks or Standalone Reference Stations. Mobile GIS solutions enable GIS to be taken into the field as digital maps on compact, mobile computers, providing field access to geographic information.

CORS Networks?
What is a CORS Network?
Continuously Operating Reference Stations Fixed Location Base Stations Network Capability (Internet Via Next-G) - RTK (Real Time Kinematic) Less than 80km Baseline length between stations providing 2cm accuracy. Dual frequency (L1,L2) RTK Receivers. - DGPS (Differential GPS) Up to 200km Baseline length between stations providing sub metre accuracy Single Frequency (L1) DGPS Receivers.

Mobile GIS Applications

Mobile GIS applications: Asset Inventories - Create and maintain inventories of asset locations and Capture and update attribute information eg Parks inventories. Asset Maintenance - Update asset location, condition. Incident Reporting - Document the location and circumstances of incidents and events for further action or reporting GIS Analysis and Decision Making Improved Accuracy for better quality analysis.
