ASTHMA

Asthma attacks all age

groups but often starts in childhood. Recurrent attacks of BREATHLESSNESS and WHEEZING, which vary in severity and frequency from person to person. In an individual, they may occur from hour to hour and day to day.

WHAT IS ASTHMA?
This condition is due to
inflammation of the air passages in the lungs. In an attack, the lining of the passages swell causing the airways to narrow and reducing the flow of air in and out of the lungs. In simple language if we want to explain Asthma it means traffic jam of respiratory channels, which almost blocks the in flow and out flow of air and hence breathing becomes difficult.

WHY DOES THIS TRAFFIC JAM OCCUR?

Due to inflammation of the respiratory channels. inflammation is swelling of Respiratory channels Due to different secretions coming from the cells of respiratory channels. secretion is thick sticky semisolid type of material that almost blocks the channels.

HOW TO TREAT ASTHMA? To reduce the inflammation of the respiratory channels. To clear the secretions blocking the respiratory channels.

ACTION OF ABOVE DRUGS


Anti-inflammatory drugs are those which help reduce

the swelling of respiratory channels. Bronchodilator drugs are those which help broaden up the respiratory channels. Anti-histaminic are those which reduce the secretion of histamine. Mucolytic drugs are those which help the melt the cough the blocks the respiratory channels. Mucokinetic drugs are those which help move the secretions out of the respiratory channels.

TWO TYPES OF THERAPY

ALLOPATHY AYURVEDA
Here we would not discuss the former therapy as we all know that these medicine are fast effective but their effect is for a limited span of time and hence there is soon recurrence of disease. We are here to discuss the later mentioned therapy i.e. AYURVEDIC THERAPY
