SUMMER PROJECT

Improvement Plan & Teacher Training for Ameer Akhtar Foundation Pre-School Gharaibabad (AAF)

Executive Summary
This Project is based on the formation of a school management plan and teachers training in a AAF Per-School Ameer Akhtar Foundation (AAF) is a local NGO which is working for the welfare of rural and urban communities by serving the underserved segment of the society through sustainable development and a participatory approach. Its objective is to provide education to the out of school children and to prepare them for primary education Objectives of our project were to train teacher in multi-grade teaching methods, to bring improvement in the existing school, to involve local community to create ownership and to finally create a joyful learning environment through colorful activities. As per objectives of project we surveyed the school twice a week for 6 weeks in which we analyzed the overall condition of the school,

At the same time was given on-the-job training. Along with this we conducted different activities with the students like teaching with picture, lecture on hygiene, matching alphabets with pictures, matching picture with picture, song on alphabet jingle etc Foundation was finding difficulty to have regular check on school, behavior of teacher was not satisfactory with the students, there was a lot of interference of teachers mother in all the activities of school,

All the students were studying the same syllabus and there was no division of students and syllabus.
Colorful charts were prepared and displayed in the class room, and children were engaged in colorful activities.

INTRODUCTION of
Ameer Akhtar Foundation (AAF)
Started working for the rural and urban communities in 2008 through collecting funds from friends and family with a sole purpose to support communities and help them out of the circle of poverty.
AAF is operated by 27 female members AAFs approach to bringing about change in disadvantaged communities is multi-sectoral. Development activities are seen as part of an integrated process that can only be achieved by involving strategic allies at all levels in a wide range of support activities. Along with providing essential services, AAF simultaneously builds communities capacity to take care of their own needs and become partners in change.

INTRODUCTION of Our Project


Ameerr Akhtar Foundation Pre-School was functional on 11th April, 2011. It is one room one teacher school. Its a three hour

school.
school operated to educate the deprived children of Ghareebabad who cannot afford their educational

expenses
Books and stationery is provided to the students and the teacher.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT:


Teacher Training new effective methods of teaching so she can help students to be active learners

Market Analysis
The goal of market analysis is to determine the attractiveness of a market and to understand its evolving opportunities and threats as they relate to the strengths and weaknesses of a firm.

Brief Description
AAF pre-school started with 11 students in April 2011 and by the end of April there were 45 students. However by the end of June there was a sudden decline in the student strength and the number came to 29 students.

Profile of AAF Pre-School


The per-school was established in Ghareebabad a poor locality near Chaklala Scheme III Rawalpindi

Students are paying Rs 10/- per month as fee


The focus is to bring out of school children in the mainstream

PROJECT METHODOLOGY
Primary data It was collected from Ms. Nargis.CEO (AAF) briefed by her we conducted surveys to the AAF pre-school twice a week to analyze the overall activities of the school, as our focus was on school improvement plan and teachers training of AAF pre-school Conducted interviews form teacher, parents & community members, Checked the performance of students by taking oral quizzes and checking their course material and copies. Developed a training module for the teacher which was basically on-the-job training.

Primary Research
We conducted surveys to the AAF pre school twice a week to analyze the overall activities of the school, as our focus was on teachers training therefore we conducted interviews with the teacher. Parents & community members, checked the performance of students by taking oral quizzes and checking their course material and copies.

For the help in generating ideas regarding our task

Problems
All the student of different level sits together in the same class. No different level in students groups Communication with parents was a major problem faced by the foundation because most of the parents do not respond.

Policy:
Mam Nargis made a policy that the foundation will provide those copies for the first time and the next time the parents will buy books, copies from their own resources.

Activities Done with the Children

Coloring concept:
We give to the children different drawing to fill the color

Concept of Counting and Alphabet:


Children learn counting(1,2,3) and(A,B,C,D). Clear the concept of sit, stand with the help of musical chairs.

Syllabus According to Levels:


We made a new syllabus for the students in three parts Level 1 to 3.
Level 1 (Red):
Its a basics level in which teach reading & writing In 2nd level child will be teach further all Alphabets in English & Urdu and Counting upto 50 who could read and write alphabets in english urdu and mathematic then some basics concept in English, in mathematics table of 2, and some Shapes, and in Urdu words building will be teach.

CONCLUSION
After spending five weeks with AAP pre-School, we would like to share that we having a magnificent experience working with AAF foundation pre-school. We have realized for the first time that how important it is to work for the underprivileged and marginalized communities. We discovered that the concept of Pre-school is a very significant and it can contribute a lot in changing the future of our generation.

CONCLUSION
Teachers are Nation builders and the development of a Nation. Depends on the academics and the teachers therefore the most important factor is that teachers should be trained in a way that they involve and engage children and help them build their future.

RECOMMENDATIONS
The copies provided to the students must be signed and stamped and the number of times students take copies must also be mentioned to keep a proper record that how many copies given to a particular student. Another school must be opened to give competition to this school in order to bring quality education.

RECOMMENDATIONS
The school may be shifted to another colony next to NASIR COLONY as most of the students come from there. Teacher may be given teachers training every quartet in order to bring awareness of new improved teaching methods as if they stick to old methods of teaching no new learning of
