Meadow Grasshopper

Most of them are spread out in the U.S Their color is brown with some dark markings Big hind legs for jumping Conspicuous eyes 20-24 segments for the antennas Shortest of the grasshopper is 1cm and longest is 15cm

Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly

Butterflies can fly up to 12 miles an hour The biggest butterfly was measured up to 12 inches long They can taste with their feet It has 3 body parts Colorful wings, different colors They have no jaws, use a tube-like mouth to sip up liquid from plants Antennas are used for sense of smell and for balance Palps are used for tasting if the object is food or not

Praying Mantis

A praying mantis has a long neck and can turn its head 180 degrees to see its prey Their color is green or brown which blends in with the leaves The shortest one is 1.2 cm and longest is 15cm, about a tea cup A praying mantis uses its front legs to snare its prey. It is so fast that the prey barely see the claws come toward them. There are two big eyes on their head, and 3 more little eyes behind them Females can lay more than 100 eggs at one time in a small case

Red Ants

Ants have a narrow waist They have a big head and bowed antennas They live underground and on trees Each ant has its own role: carpenter ants build its nest, an army ant defends its nest A queen ant lays eggs to ensure the survival of her clan Female ants usually do all the work, and male ants usually mate the queen and then die They use chemicals to communicate There are both red and black ants

Amati Ocellata Lady Bugs

Lady Bugs can lay hundreds of eggs at a time Lady bugs eat both plants and other small animals They are red with black dots Farmers like them because good for getting rid of pests Mostly found in tropical places Have short legs and antennas Size of a green bean
