SENSE OF
BELONGINGNESS

Once upon a time there was a shepherd looking after his sheep on the side of a deserted road. Suddenly, a brand new Jeep screeches to a halt next to him. The driver - a young man dressed in a suit, shoes, sunglasses, - gets out and asks the shepherd, 'If I guess how many sheep you have, will you give me one of them?' The shepherd looks at the young man, then looks at the grazing sheep and replies, 'Okay.' The young man parks his car and connects his notebook to the Internet. He logs in to the NASA website, scans the ground using his GPS, opens a database and prints out a report on his portable printer. He turns to the shepherd and says, 'You have 1586 sheep here.' The shepherd answers, 'That's correct, you may have your sheep.' The young man takes his animal and puts it in the back of his Jeep. The shepherd looks at the young man and says, 'If I guess your profession, will you return the animal to me?' 'Yes, why not.' 'You are a consultant.' 'That's amazing, how did you know?' 'Very simple,' answers the shepherd. 'First, you come here without being called. Second, you charge me for something I already knew and third, you don't understand anything about my business. Now can I have my sheep back?'

Belongingness comes with commitment

The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor. There are only two options regarding commitment. You're either in or out. There's no such thing as a life in-between.

Commitment
Commitment is generally referred to as an enduring desire to maintain a relationship The concept of commitment is similar to the concept of a long-term orientation that comprises the desire and utility of a buyer to have a long-term relationship with a seller Stronger the commitment, the more likely is to overcome potential obstacles in the employer-employee relationship, resulting in employee loyalty.

Commitment
The mother of the bride did not look happy at the wedding Mass or at the reception which followed. Before the newly married couple could leave for their honeymoon, she asked to see his son-in-law in private. It turned out that she wanted him to sign an unusual delivery receipt, on which she had written the following words: "Received from Mrs. Barbara Wallace her daughter Alice who is in good working condition." "NO RETURN, NO EXCHANGE."

Commitment
Affective commitment Calculative commitment and

Normative commitment.

Affective commitment
Affective commitment can be defined as a partys desire to continue a

relationship because of the enjoyment of the relationship for its own sake, apart from the instrumental worth and because they experience a sense of loyalty and belongingness

Calculative commitment
Calculative or continuance commitment can be defined as the degree to which

channel members experience the need to maintain a relationship, given the significant perceived termination of switching costs associated with leaving.

Normative commitment
Normative commitment is reflected in the (moral) obligation to stay in

a relationship

Normative commitment
Normative commitment is reflected in the (moral) obligation to stay in

Why I should alone be committed to the organisation?

Keeper of the Spring

Never become discouraged with the seeming smallness of your task, job, or life. Cling fast to the words of Edward Everett I am only one, But still I am one. I cannot do everything, But still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do The something that I can do. The key to accomplishment is believing that what you can do will make a difference.

Personal loyalty vs Institutional loyality

Basically personal loyalty is loyalty to a person or your own small group while Institutional loyalty is loyalty to the overall company or organization.

Organisational Culture
Concept of organisational culture and shared values as a means of analysing the internal operating environment A family dimension in the ownership and management. The shared values of a sense of belonging, honesty, loyalty, trust and respect will automatically follow the family culture within an organisation.

.our role
What if you were asked to share two words that describe your Life at ALIET?

.our role
would your focus be the lumps, bumps, and unfairness, or are you committed to dwell on those things that are good, right, and lovely?

Wranglers and Stranglers

.what we need?
Talent between the two? Probably the same. Level of education? Not much difference. But the Stranglers strangled, while the Wranglers were determined to give each other a lift. The Stranglers promoted an atmosphere of contention and self doubt. The Wranglers highlighted the best, not the worst.

.what we need?

You are Wonderful

.what we need?
We all need people in our Lives who are willing to stand up once in a while and say, "I think you are wonderful. "

Lets have the feeling of togetherness

Togetherness is a feeling. A feeling which gives happiness, warmth, confidence, assurance and above all a sense of belongingness. Human beings owe their existence and survival to this very feeling. Right from the womb of his mother, a child is deeply and strongly associated with this feeling of togetherness. After his birth, he finds peace and strength in the presence of his mother, father, grand parents, siblings, relatives and friends. This togetherness is to be realised even in our world of work, in the organisation in which we are working for.
