Motivation

Moral compass Defines how I live my life.

Helps evaluate actions and choices

The top three values that play the largest role in my life at the moment are Family, Freedom and Direction. As I transition through my life, my values that are playing the biggest role in the moment do change.

Family is very important to me. The family that I have now and the family I hope to have in the future. Some times we dont get along and some times we just plain dont like each other and that is ok. The part that puts family to at the top of the list is that connectiion. I like that feeling.

Family

I think that it was my mom that really installed this belief. She has always been the one in the family who keeps every one connected. She puts a lot of effort into staying in contact, having a family reunion every year and connecting during birthdays and holidays.

Value in family will impact my career because in Human Services we are directly working with families. Having a value in family will bring me an appreciation and I hope a drive to really put forth my 100% in helping these families. Understanding how important family is, is what draws me to human services in the first place.

How will a value in family impact my career

FREEDOM is some thing that i always try to keep in my mind during the day so I can remember to not take it for granted.

FREEDOM
Freedom

to make my own choices Freedom to choose my own direction and path in life. Freedom to know that there might be consequences to my actions but I still have that option

FREEDOM
Being rather stubborn my lesson of freedom didnt stop there. At 22 I was sentenced to 39 months in prison. One think is clear. Choosing to stay from your family and friends and forced to be away from family and friends is entirely two different topics. You start missing family that typically you cant stand.

How a value in freedom will impact my career.

Having a value in freedom will impact my job in human services because I think itll give me an awareness and appreciation. There is more than one way to do things. That is important to remember especially when working with families.

Direction
Having a direction in my life is very important. I could almost say the most important. I have noticed that in my life It is very important for me to keep a direction or I can loose sight of every thing very quickly.

CHOICES
Some are born in to a life with out freedom and desperately want only that and what it entitles while others who are born with it and never question the existence of freedom and choose to continue a lifestyle path that puts their freedom at risk.

This will impact my career because how can you teach a client to have goals and a direction when you haven't found one for your self yet. its important to have goals, a direction so that you dont get burnt out and feel satisfied with where your life is leading

How direction will impact my career

With freedom comes accountability

I think I first learned about freedom as a young kid. I was one of those who always pushed to the limits and spent literally most of my child summers grounded. Including 3 summers in a row from beginning to end.

The next major learning experience with freedom..

When I was 15 I was sent to a boarding school in Mexico for 18 months. Completely locked down, military similarities but focused on behavior modification. When you have to raise your hand to ask for permission to sit, stand, eat, drink and every other action you could possibly think of It gives you a whole new meaning to self awareness. So does going 10 months with only being give permission to speak twice.

freedom is some thing I really try to embrace and be aware of on a daily bases. Its something I take for granted and it is some thing that can be taken away from you in so many ways.
